Release date: 18.07.2018

The opening of the Center of Indian Culture in the Kabardino-Balkarian State University was noisy and fun.

Representatives of the university, teachers and foreign students of KBSU from India took part in the celebration. By tradition, dear guests were greeted with a flower garland «Mala», and on the forehead they put a «tick» — a red dot, symbolizing the wish for luck and happiness.

At the threshold of the members of the club laid out the «Rangoli» prosperity mandala, its creation from colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or from flower petals. Such drawings are intended to designate the sacred places of salutation for the higher powers, and therefore anyone entering, touched Rangoli with good wishes to the club.

Yuri Altudov wished the Center of Indian culture prosperity, and the students to reach their goal, get education and return home with high-class education.

I think that the Caucasus with its unique nature, the city of Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkarian State University will always remain in your soul and you will often remember the years of study,- said the rector.

KBSU is studying over 200 students from India, mainly at the medical faculty. Thanks to their caring teachers and supervisors, the children are fully accustomed to the new environment for them, they are gradually getting to know the local culture and traditions. In turn, they have something to share and what to tell the new comrades — students and teachers about their beautiful country.

But what is an Indian holiday without a song ?! There were hymns of Russia and India, Indian songs and poems about mothers sung at the opening of the club. Guests were treated with traditional Indian dishes. Girls in multi-colored saris demonstrated the art of oriental dance. Everyone could make mehendi — henna paintings. It is believed that the ritual picture of mehendi brings good luck and protects from failure.

In the new academic year, the center intends to organize dance lessons, conduct master classes in drawing mehendi, and teach yoga. Also, the center plans to watch Indian films in Russian, meetings with students of KBSU, the acquaintance of Indian students with the culture of Russia and the acquaintance of Russian students with the culture of India.
