2022, the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, has come to an end. Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov took an active part in the implementation of the project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin.

Interesting and memorable competitions, olympiads, trainings and round tables held in 2022 were aimed at building an understanding that folk culture and traditions play a key role in preserving national identity. Students and staff of KBSU, schoolchildren and students of colleges of Kabardino-Balkaria with pleasure plunged into the theme of the year, which emphasized the role of KBSU not only as a scientific and educational center, but also as a custodian, translator and popularizer of the cultural heritage of the multinational people of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

Excursion and tourism projects developed by students of the “Tourism” and “Hospitality” directions — participants of the All-Russian Student Forum “Your Move-2022” were highly appreciated by experts, within the framework of which the ideaton “More than History” was held at KBSU — an intensive search and elaboration of tourist regional routes, which reflect the theme of acquaintance with the cultural and historical heritage of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria.

“An important task of the institute in 2022 was the actualization of the problems of studying, preserving and developing the native languages of the peoples of the KBR. In the course of the events held on this issue, student youth were imbued with the understanding that the code of national identity, first of all, is formed by introducing them to their native language and, as a result, to traditional national culture. Employees of the Social and Humanitarian Institute were invited to participate in public hearings in the Parliament of the KBR and the Public Chamber on the problems of preserving and developing the native languages of the peoples of the KBR, as well as in the All-Russian Congress of Teachers of Native Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation. They prepared for publication two collective monographs, a dictionary: on the historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria, on the features of the representation of the world in different linguistic cultures, intended for a wide range of domestic specialists, and on the analysis of Balkar personal names and surnames recorded in archival documents of 1827–1944. The publication of the first issue of the bio-bibliographic publication “90 Years of KBSU: People and Events” has long been expected in the republic, containing information about 425 university employees who contributed to the transformation of our university into a center of science, education and enlightenment.

Guests of KBSU, who took part in various events held at our university, noted the positive experience of the scientific and educational centers of the social and humanitarian institute — the Adyghe culture; Russian language and culture; Balkar culture — especially their openness to young people of various nationalities.

In general, the planned and implemented set of measures was aimed at creating an understanding in the regional dimension that the history of the peoples of Russia, their common destiny and the centuries-old experience of mutual understanding is the true culture, the key to the real development of the state and its future, ”shared the director of the SGI, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Muslim Tamazov.
