The first solo exhibition of student Timur Kazharov opened at the KBSU College of Design

Release date: 13.05.2026

The exhibition «Inner Rap» opened at the Design College of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov. Its creator is 20-year-old fourth-year Graphic Design student Timur Kazharov. This is the young artist’s debut solo project, bringing together 11 abstract works.

Students and faculty gathered for the presentation. College Director Alim Kanloev noted the importance of such platforms for students’ professional growth:

«The most important thing for our students is motivation. This integration platform was created specifically so that they can demonstrate their skills. Today we have Timur’s solo exhibition. His paintings are very sincere, and I am sure this is only the beginning of his artistic journey.»
Graphic Design Head Rustam Turaev emphasized that the artist’s development followed an unexpected but fruitful path:

«It turned out that we were training a designer, but an artist emerged.» In an era of rapidly developing technology, a unique, original vision is becoming a key advantage. The ability to visualize thoughts is a rare quality, and Timur is already finding his own language, avoiding direct imitation.

Kazharov himself admits that he only took up painting seriously a year ago, but during this time he has developed a recognizable style. His canvases are characterized by expressive textures, multi-layered compositions, active use of text, and contrasting color accents.

«I seek inspiration not from outside, but within myself. I work solely on impulse: if the process isn’t flowing, I put my brushes down; if it’s captivating, I can spend several hours at a time at the canvas.»
The exhibition is structured around the theme of personal dialogue with the viewer and the search for meaning. One of the key paintings, «How Are You, My Spring?», addresses our planet and reflects the desire for light in today’s information environment:

«Today, the news often seems too intense. Spring has become a symbol of renewal and hope for me. It’s an attempt to find something light and real amidst a constant stream of information.»
The work «Obsession» captures the artist’s period of peak concentration:

«It was a period of total immersion, when I was creating canvases virtually nonstop. The canvas emerged almost by itself, like an imprint of that state.»
In his works, the artist combines acrylic, pastel, gouache, and spray paint. It takes an average of four hours to complete a single painting.

Speaking about his creative path, Timur notes the influence of his mentors and professional environment. Among the artists whose work he particularly values are his professors at the College of Design: master painter Ruslan Mazloev and head of the Graphic Design department, Rustam Turaev. Their support gave him the confidence to pursue his debut project.

In terms of visual aesthetics, Kazharov’s work is often compared to that of the classic neo-expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat: his expressive style, use of text, symbols, and multi-layered compositions do indeed create certain parallels.

The first visitors to the opening have already had a chance to appreciate the exhibition. Diana Kozheva, an art instructor at the KBSU College of Design, noted the emotional depth of the project:

«Timur is a bright and sincere person. Seeing an artist’s sincerity on canvas is always a gift. I encourage him to never stop: the path in art is rarely black and white; it has many shades, and it is important to walk it with dignity.»
Disana Ushar, a classmate of the artist, noted the dynamic nature of his paintings:

«Each painting evokes a strong emotional response. They are so layered that new details and meanings are revealed with each glance.»
The «Inner Rap» exhibition will continue to run at the KBSU College of Design. Admission is free.
