Career Workshop for KBSU Students
An intensive educational session was held at KBSU, where students learned how to become sought-after professionals and develop a proactive approach to their careers. The event was organized by the KBSU Career Development Department with the support of the Russian «Znanie» (Knowledge) Society. It was moderated by Kristina Lopatina, director of the Career Development Center at the KBSU Career Development Department and an instructor of the «Service Learning» course.
Participants explored key areas of professional and personal growth. Students learned that volunteering is not merely about helping others but serves as a powerful way to hone the «soft skills» highly valued by modern employers. Using real-life examples from the #MYVMESTE (#WEARETOGETHER) movement and the Dobro.rf platform, the students saw how social engagement fosters leadership qualities, teamwork, and stress resilience.
Alina Ashkhotova, director of the regional branch of the Russian «Znanie» Society, introduced students to the opportunities offered by this federal educational platform. Attendees learned how—even as first-year students—they could find learning resources, launch their own projects, and map out a clear career path.
Timur Aramisov, director of the KBSU Center for Socio-Political Research, delivered a lecture titled «Elections in Russia: General Organization, Unified Voting Day, and Protection of the Electoral Process.» Participants examined the constitutional foundations of the electoral system and gained an understanding of election organization principles and safeguards. The speaker emphasized the importance of cultivating civic responsibility and developing a deep understanding of the foundations of Russian statehood.
Kristina Lopatina presented the capabilities of the KBSU Digital Career Environment (DCE) to the students. They saw how the platform assists in creating professional-grade resumes and portfolios showcasing their achievements. …find job openings and internships directly from university partners; track their volunteering achievements, including hours logged on the Dobro.rf platform and within the #MYVMESTE (#WEARETOGETHER) movement; and save projects implemented as part of the «Service Learning» course, which all first-year students take.
«Service Learning is not about dry theory. Through this innovative course, students immerse themselves in real-world professional activities. They develop practical skills for future employment and can even share their knowledge with schoolchildren and college students,» noted Kristina Lopatina.
The KBSU Career Development Office continues to implement initiatives aimed at boosting graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market and fostering a community of active, socially responsible professionals.
