Release date: 27.12.2024

Students of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov visited the regional branch of VORDI KBR with a concert program and gifts.

First-year students of the Social and Humanitarian Institute and the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Education and Sports Education organized a New Year’s holiday for children with disabilities. It became the final event of an interdisciplinary project implemented within the framework of the «Service-learning» course by social order of the Kabardino-Balkarian branch of the All-Russian Organization of Parents of Children with Disabilities.

«Service-learning» is a large-scale educational program launched in September 2023 by order of the President of Russia in more than 100 universities in the country. Its goal is to combine education and socially useful activities into a single process, when students can apply academic knowledge in real social conditions.

At KBSU, «Service Learning» is taught in all areas of training during the first semester. Assistant of the Department of Organization of Work with Youth at SGI Zarina Khadzegova teaches this course and emphasizes the importance of practical experience for future specialists.

Students not only receive theoretical knowledge, but also learn to interact with various social groups, develop empathy and teamwork skills,

— says Khadzegova.

As part of the course, students organized many events aimed at supporting children with disabilities. Over the course of two months, master classes, games and creative activities were held, which helped the children discover their talents and feel part of society.

Head of the regional branch of VORDI Marina Bozieva noted the importance of such initiatives:

This is not just entertainment, it is an opportunity for children to feel needed and important. We are grateful to the students for their active participation and sincere desire to help.

At the New Year’s celebration, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, children sang songs with pleasure, danced in a circle with Snegurochka, participated in competitions, guessed riddles and read poems to Father Frost. The children who attended the celebration went home with gifts and in a great mood!
