KBSU Launches 2026 Admissions Campaign: New Programs and 648 State-Funded Places
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov has officially launched its 2026 admissions campaign. The university plans to accept between 4,600 and 4,900 applicants across all modes of study, offering updated educational programs.
For 2026, the university has allocated 648 state-funded places for undergraduate and specialist programs. In addition, 259 places are available for master’s programs, 149 for residency programs, 3 for doctoral programs, and 551 for secondary vocational education (SVE) programs.
Considerable attention is paid to supporting privileged categories of citizens: a total of 20% of state-funded places are allocated to priority groups. A special quota (85 places) is provided for orphans, persons with disabilities of groups I and II, and combat veterans. A separate quota (86 spots) is allocated for military service members, their family members, Heroes of the Russian Federation, and children of fallen service members. Additionally, 112 spots are available for detailed targeted admissions, which involves matching applicants with specific client organizations through the «Work in Russia» platform.
This year, a new, state-funded program, «Physics and Mathematics,» is being added to the full-time undergraduate program in «Pedagogical Education.» For future communications specialists, the KBSU College of Design is launching a new secondary vocational program, «Advertising.» These innovations are intended to support the growing demand for specific professional competencies.
Traditionally, the most popular specialties are medicine, law, and economics. At the same time, the university has recorded a steady increase in interest in engineering and technical fields of study, which correlates with the national trend toward technological development. College and technical school graduates can apply based on either their Unified State Exam (USE) results or their university’s internal entrance examinations. The main requirement is that the chosen program at KBSU must strictly correspond to the program profile of their vocational education. When changing programs, passing the USE is mandatory.
To support talented applicants, KBSU maintains its financial incentive system. Graduates who score 100 points on the USE receive a one-time payment of 100,000 rubles. High scorers (the threshold is determined separately for each program) receive a monthly stipend of 10,000 rubles during the first semester. Additionally, for individual achievements—a gold medal, a GTO badge, or victories in Olympiads—up to 10 additional points can be awarded on the USE score.
Regarding organizational matters, KBSU accepts documents in three ways: in person at the Admissions Office, through the Gosuslugi portal (the «Online University Admission» service), or by mail. It’s important to note that submitting documents through university websites is not possible this year, so applicants are advised to ensure they have a verified Gosuslugi account in advance.
