KBSU will host a roundtable discussion on «Young Families – the Foundation of the Country’s Future»
The topic of young and student families is an important part of the national agenda. For the second year, the All-Russian Festival of Student Families has been held as part of the national project «Family,» in which our university actively participates. At the 1st All-Russian Festival of Student Families, the rectors of five Russian universities, including Kharkiv-Balkar State University, presented best practices for working with student families. The 2nd All-Russian Festival of Student Families recently took place, bringing together over 400 people from 52 regions of Russia. Speaking at the opening, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko noted that over the past year, the number of student families in Russia has doubled to 60,000 (of which over 30,000 are with children). Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov emphasized that more than 520 universities across the country are already implementing the «gold standard» of support. In addition, 343 mother-and-child rooms have been created at universities, and at least a thousand such spaces are planned to be opened by 2030.
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kharkiv M. Berbekov places great emphasis on supporting young and student families. This has become one of the university’s priorities, as Acting Rector Yuri Altudov has repeatedly stated.
On July 7, 2026, Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kharkiv M. Berbekov will host a roundtable discussion on «Young Families – the Foundation of the Country’s Future,» timed to coincide with the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity. The event will bring together representatives of government agencies, public organizations, the academic community, as well as students and young families from the republic. The meeting is being organized by Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kharkiv M. Berbekov, which considers supporting student families a priority in its social and educational policy.
Participants in the roundtable discussion «Young Families – the Foundation of the Country’s Future» will review best practices presented at the festival and formulate concrete proposals for developing support measures for young families in the region.
Speakers at the event will include: Anzor Ezaov, Minister of Education and Science of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Azamat Lyuev, Minister of Youth Affairs of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Takhir Toguzaev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Nina Emuzova, Chair of the Committee on Education, Science, Physical Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs of the Kabardino-Balkarian Parliament; Amina Badrakova, Children’s Rights Commissioner of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Albek Abazov, Head of the Regional Headquarters of the Young Guard of United Russia; Auliyat Kaskulova, Chair of the Regional Branch of the Union of Women of Russia for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Aslan Shipshev, Chair of the Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth «Movement of the First»; and representatives of the university’s leading partner companies, ERPAK CJSC and Terekalmaz JSC.
The main topics of discussion will be government support measures for young and student families, as well as comprehensive approaches to addressing issues across financial, organizational, and infrastructural dimensions. The roundtable will focus on regional practices for implementing family programs, the interaction of educational institutions with government agencies and employers, and the role of young families as a foundation for the country’s socioeconomic development.
A separate section will be devoted to an open question-and-answer dialogue, during which young and student families will be able to directly address representatives of ministries and agencies, ask questions, and receive clarification on existing support measures, benefits, and promising family policy initiatives. This form of interaction will allow them to understand the real needs of families facing everyday, financial, and organizational challenges during their education and professional development.
As part of the event, guests will also visit mother-and-child rooms and short-stay groups for children, located in three university departments: the Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Social Sciences and Humanities Institute, and the Pedagogical College.
The roundtable discussion «Young Families – the Foundation of the Country’s Future» aims not only to draw attention to issues of demography and social security but also to consolidate the efforts of all stakeholders to strengthen the institution of family in the region.
