Yana Kulyushina, a fourth-year student majoring in Physical Education and Sports at the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Physical Education and Sports Education at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, won bronze at the All-Russian Student Archery Competition, which took place in Ryazan from July 8 to 10.

This year, the competition brought together approximately 50 student athletes from more than 20 higher education institutions across the country. Participants competed for medals in individual and team mixed tournaments in the junior men and women aged 17–25. Yana Kulyushina demonstrated a remarkable level of preparation and confidently took third place on the podium.

Yana has been archery for 11 years. Sport isn’t just a hobby for her, but a true way of life, a love instilled in her by her parents. Her mother, Natalia Kulyushina, an experienced coach and award-winning archer, serves as her mentor.

The Kulyushin family is a true sports dynasty, well-known in the republic. Yana’s father, Alexander Kulyushin, heads a sports and adaptive school and is the president of the Kabardino-Balkarian Archery Federation.

This is far from the first significant award for the KBSU representative. Yana’s track record includes victories in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic championship and junior championship, as well as prizes in national tournaments. Based on her performances, the student consistently ranks among the top 5 junior archers in Russia.

A special place in her athletic career is occupied by her victory in the Open Championship of the Chechen Republic, as well as her record-breaking performance at the Festival of Culture and Sports of the Peoples of Southern Russia. Then Yana hit the target from a distance of 93 meters, surpassing the previous achievement of her coach and mother, Natalia Kulyushina.
