Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov participated in the 2nd All-Russian Festival of Student Families. This large-scale event brought together approximately 400 people from 52 regions of Russia in Moscow. The festival was hosted by the State University of Management (SUM) and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Representing the university were Acting Rector Yuri Altudov, Vice Rector for Youth Policy, Educational Work, and Social Issues Beslan Nazranov, Head of the Department of Youth Policy and Social Issues Rezuan Kumykov, and Deputy Head of the Department of Youth Policy and Social Issues Azamat Bitokov. An educational program was organized for university representatives, during which they discussed improving support measures for young couples and shared successful practices. Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) was represented at the «Student Family of Russia» competition by Aslan and Milana Vorokov, second-year residency students at the Medical Academy.

Opening the ceremony, MSU Rector Viktor Sadovnichy stated that Lomonosov Moscow State University currently has approximately 2,000 student families, with infrastructure available for them, including family rooms in dormitories, a kindergarten, a medical center, and sanatoriums. Construction on the second phase of a new dormitory with 3,000 beds will soon begin.

The festival is being held as part of the national project «Family» and aims to popularize the institution of marriage among young people. As Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko noted, the number of student families in Russia has doubled over the past year, reaching 60,000 (more than 30,000 of which are with children). The concept of «student family» has been officially introduced into the legal framework, young couples are provided with separate rooms in dormitories, and 41 regions have implemented birth support programs with federal co-financing.

Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov added that more than 520 universities across the country are already implementing this «gold standard» of support. Furthermore, 343 mother-and-child rooms have been created at universities, with plans to open at least a thousand such spaces by 2030.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova emphasized that student years are the ideal time not only for obtaining an education but also for creating a strong family, and universities are creating all the necessary infrastructure for this.

A total of 253 applications were submitted to the «Student Family of Russia» competition. Following the online round, the 30 best families traveled to Moscow to participate in the finals, where they competed in sports, creative arts, culinary, and intellectual competitions.
Families from Mordovia, Krasnodar Krai, Omsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Smolensk won in various categories.

The Rector of Moscow State University established a special category for graduate student families.
In addition to the competition, participants received personalized advice from family psychologists, attended interactive workshops, and witnessed the first performance of the student families’ KVN team.

The festival concluded with the performance of a special anthem and the announcement that the event would become an annual event. In 2027, it will be hosted by one of the regions that won the application competition.
