KBSU invited to Krasnoyarsk to discuss the climate agenda

On August 23–26, Krasnoyarsk hosted the 2nd strategic educational intensive “The practice of creating and developing carbon landfills and related climate projects: personnel, technologies, equipment” organized for project teams and individual experts focused on working on the development of climate initiatives, generation and transfer in the economy of their regions of the concept of low-carbon development. The training program, which includes seminars and workshops from leading experts, international lectures, experience exchange sessions, a foresight session, as well as team and project work of students, was prepared by the Siberian Federal University (SFU) — «REC «Yenisei Siberia»» and Tyumen State University — «West Siberian Interregional REC» with the support of the general partner PJSC Sibur Holding. Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov was represented at the intensive by the candidate of agricultural sciences, director of the center for decarbonization of the agro-industrial complex and regional economy Amiran Zanilov.
The climate agenda at KBSU is assessed as one of the most promising and relevant. Within the framework of this topic, several research interdisciplinary projects are being carried out, including those funded by business partners. One of the goals of the intensive is strategic interregional partnership and attraction of additional funding for projects. And since KBSU is at the stage of applying for funding for the creation of a test site in the KBR, advanced training and obtaining additional competencies is a factor contributing to the increase in the competitive advantages of the university, — commented Amiran Zanilov.
At the round table «Creation and development of natural and climate projects: typology, risks and solutions» Amiran Zanilov presented to the experts — representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, public authorities, industrial companies and venture funds — the results of the scientific work of KBSU scientists in the field of agro-climatic research for period 2021–2022, which, in his opinion, demonstrate the seriousness of the university’s intentions in the development of this area. Participation in the event made it possible to identify additional development vectors for the university, mainly in the field of creating innovative products for the low-carbon economy of the region. In this light, the prospect of including KBSU in the list of universities operating carbon landfills created by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation promises an increase in the effectiveness of the university’s innovative and innovative activities and an increase in the environmental image of the region, — said the director of the center for decarbonization of the agro-industrial complex and the regional economy of KBSU.
As a result of the intensive program, students received two certificates of advanced training — from the Tyumen State and Siberian Federal Universities. The projects presented at the intensive and receiving the highest marks from the experts will be awarded with commemorative diplomas of the forum in Krasnoyarsk. In addition, all participants of the training will have access to the educational courses of the First Summer School of Academic Excellence, as well as to the materials of the first strategic educational intensive.
