KBSU hosts celebrations dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university
October 12, 2022 the main festive events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov, began with the excursion «University Aimed at the Future», in which more than 100 residents of Nalchik and guests of the city took part. Members of public organizations “Council of Women of the city of Nalchik and the City Union of Pensioners, graduates and students of KBSU were able to trace the history of the university, learn about its achievements in the educational, scientific, social spheres, and see how the university has changed in recent years. The tour route started in the main building. At the exhibition of scientific achievements, projects of students, graduate students and employees of KBSU in various areas were presented: mechanical engineering, biology, chemistry, medicine, information technology block, etc.
“The modern infrastructure for scientific research includes more than 60 scientific and educational laboratories, 7 scientific and educational centers, 4 centers for collective use, the largest “digital” herbarium in the region, as well as unique infrastructure units — the Elbrus Educational and Scientific Complex, the REC Botanical garden”, cultural and educational center “Hermitage-Kavkaz”, – said Rustam Kalmykov, chairman of the Council of young scientists of KBSU.
The so-called labor exhibition featured photographs of KBSU employees and students from the 1930s to the 1990s, as well as five rectors of the university since 1957, when a multidisciplinary institution of higher education was created on the basis of the Kabardino-Balkarian Pedagogical Institute founded in 1932 – University:
Berbekov Hatuta Mutovich (1957–1965)
Kerefov Kambulat Nauruzovich (1965–1973)
Tlostanov Vladimir Kalimetovich (1973–1994)
Karamurzov Barasbi Suleimanovich (1994–2015)
Altudov Yury Kambulatovich (2015 – until now).
Olga Dorozhnikova said that she entered the university in 1954, when it was in the status of a pedagogical institute:
“I received a two-profile diploma in the areas of “teacher of Russian language and literature”, as well as “teacher of history”. There were three editions in total. After studying, I stayed to work in the dean’s office and was personally acquainted with Hatuta Berbekov and Kambulat Kerefov,” — Olga Semyonovna shared her story.
The exhibition, which tells about the creative successes of students and teachers, presented the work of students of the KBSU College of Design: stylized national costumes, metal products with artistic chasing, as well as paintings. Then the guests of the university proceeded to the administration building, where the Museum of the History of KBSU is located, which was restored and reopened in September 2020. There are several thematic zones in the exposition: “Enlighteners”, “Real School”, “Leninsky Educational Campus”, “Pedagogical Institute”, “KBSU. Rector H.M. Berbekov».
“The funds of the Museum of the History of KBSU are constantly replenished with truly rare exhibits. So, the niece of the first rector of the KBSU, Madina Berbekova, handed over for safekeeping a student card signed by Hatuta Mutovich Berbekov,” — said Irina Ashinova, academic secretary of the KBSU.
The final point of the tour was the «Boiling Point of KBSU» — a space for collective work intended for scientists, businessmen, civil servants, social activists, students. Volunteers said that this university facility was opened in 2019, became one of the 12 University Boiling Points of the first wave, and at the end of the year, KBSU became one of the leaders in the country in terms of the number (780) and quality of events. The sightseers saw six specialized halls: Oshkhamakho, Sirius, Elbrus, Mingi-TAU, Altair and Digital Breakthrough, where hundreds of university, interregional, all-Russian and international events are held annually. The guests of the university took a lot of photos for memory, recalled their student years, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the excursion, including volunteers and the guide, the leading specialist of the Department for Youth Policy and Educational Work of the KBSU, Iskhak Murachaev.
“Some of us are at the university for the first time, but I hope this is not the last time. I am a graduate of this university, I have not been here for a long time and am amazed at the changes that have taken place at the university. I saw a modern university and received a lot of positive emotions. I sincerely congratulate you on your holiday!
