KBSU Hosts Discussion on Legal Literacy and the Role of Youth in the Country’s Political Future

A meeting dedicated to the upcoming elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federation was held at the Institute of Law, Economics, and Finance of KBSU. Anzor Zhereshtiev, a senior lecturer at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, spoke to students about key aspects of the electoral process.

The speaker emphasized the importance of active civic engagement and, using concrete examples, explained to the students how collective decisions and individual votes influence the state’s future development and society as a whole.

Particular attention was paid to addressing common stereotypes about elections among young people and analyzing the current political party landscape.

During the meeting, law students were reminded of the opportunities available to them to participate in the country’s political life:

«In the future, you too may run for legislative office—whether for the Parliament of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic or the State Duma of the Russian Federation—and this requires the highest level of professionalism. The quality of the laws that shape the lives of millions of people will depend on your knowledge and sense of justice. Therefore, as you master legal studies today, you are preparing for a vital mission: to be architects of the law and defenders of our society’s interests,» noted Anzor Zhereshtiev.

To conclude the meeting, participants discussed current social issues and received detailed answers to questions regarding the nuances of electoral legislation.
