KBSU Hosts «Code of Evolution» Quest to Mark Programmer’s Day

The Institute of Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence at Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) hosted the «Code of Evolution» team quest in honor of International Programmer’s Day. The event brought together students from various years of study to test their knowledge, logic, and teamwork skills.

According to the quest’s scenario, participants transformed into «data packets» traveling across a complex «network» from server to server. To earn the title of «True Programmer» and unlock the grand prize, teams had to successfully navigate seven locations, each featuring a unique challenge.

The route began at the «Ping Gateway» station, where teams had to pass a «data packet» along a chain while contending with network interference and latency. Next, at the «Captain’s Console» station, blindfolded team leaders guided their groups using strict command codes, demonstrating real-time robot programming skills.

The intellectual marathon continued at the «Time Machine» (an IT history quiz) and «Crossword Compiler» stations, where students demonstrated deep knowledge of programming terminology. Logical thinking and attention to detail were required in the «Data Labyrinth» to convert letters into binary code, while at the «Spam Filter» station, participants deciphered the nature of intrusive messages and decoded encrypted communications.

The final challenge was the «Final Bit,» a speed-based task requiring participants to locate hidden code symbols on a poster filled with visual noise. Following a spirited competition, the winners were determined and awarded certificates and valuable prizes.

Quest results:

3rd place went to a team of first-year students majoring in Informatics and Computer Engineering (Osman Kuliev, Amir Ervasov, Anastasia Kostina, Inal Mizaushev).

2nd place was taken by a team of fourth-year students majoring in Applied Informatics (Kirill Maslov, Alikhan Kyachev, Ratmir Kankulov, Artem Legay).

1st place—and the title of top code experts—was won by a team comprising first- and fourth-year students majoring in Informatics and Computer Engineering (Tamir Egozhev, Inal Bitokov, Khizir Gumzhachev, Astemir Ashabokov).

The organizers noted the participants’ high level of preparation and genuine interest in the profession. The event took place in an atmosphere of cooperation and healthy competition, serving as a wonderful celebration for the future IT specialists of KBSU.
