Indian Lights In Nalchik
Diwali in KBSU
Lakshmi dance, fireworks and Punjabi music… From 7 to 8 November, foreign students of KBSU from India celebrated the main Indian and Hindu festival at the university — Diwali, or the Festival of Lights, as it is also called in Eastern tradition.
The holiday is celebrated every year at different times, it is celebrated for 5 days and marks the victory of good over evil.
«For us, this holiday is just the same as for you — Russians, New Year, this is cleansing the world, renewing the soul, hope of coming something new and bright,» — commented what is happening student of the Faculty of Medicine of the KBSU, part-time host of the Festival of Lights Supriya Singh.
The festive events included the Pooja ceremony (worship of God and the greeting of their teachers), a gala concert and dinner. The inalienable elements of this celebration are songs, dances, games and, of course, fire … in our case, a salute that was launched within the university, subject to the strictest security measures and with universal rejoicing of Indian students.

Celebrants decorated their rooms in hostels with bells, flower garlands, mirrors and LED garlands. They came to the party according to tradition, dressed in new traditional outfits.
“The students were very pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate a big holiday within the walls of their native university. They gave flowers and treats to their teachers and invited guests. Also, it is worth noting that the children themselves have done a lot of organizational work for the realization of this celebration — they prepared meals themselves, helped the volunteers maintain order, prepared an interesting concert program,” — said Asker Vakashev, deputy director of the Institute of International Education, KBSU.
It is noteworthy that all 384 Indian students took part in the celebrations of Diwali. They organized such an opportunity for them — the Institute of International Education in cooperation with the Indian Center of KBSU.
