From ecology to digital addiction: Student design exhibition opens at KBSU

Release date: 17.06.2026

A social poster exhibition has opened at the College of Design at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. The exhibition, «Cry from the Heart,» features graphic works by 20 third-year students majoring in Graphic Design. The posters cover important social topics: environmental responsibility, healthy lifestyle, legal literacy, and respect for the individual.

At the opening were Alim Kanloev, Director of the KBSU College of Design; Inna Kashirokova, Deputy Director; Artur Shontukov, Head of Internships for Secondary Vocational Education Programs; and teachers Rustam Turaev, Albina Kerefova, and Petimat Midaeva. They congratulated the students on the opening of the exhibition and emphasized the importance of the issues addressed by the artists.

For third-year students at the College of Design, the exhibition not only marked the culmination of a two-week internship and the academic year, but also their first public viewing, said instructor and curator Inal Vorokov.

«The social poster exhibition is held every year. Our concept is not simply to highlight social issues but also to provoke viewers to think and find additional meaning,» commented Vorokov.

Most of the works are devoted to environmental protection. The students used artistic expression to speak out against animal cruelty and ocean pollution, addressing issues of carbon footprint reduction and plastic recycling. The artists are equally concerned with the threats of the digital environment: posters about internet safety, social media pressure, and slogans calling for the value of real-life communication over artificial intelligence feature prominently in the exhibition.

«During the internship, we were tasked with preparing projects in roughly the same style. We worked collaboratively, selecting references, and studying design websites. It was a very interesting experience. «I enjoyed collaborating with all the students, conferring, and discussing socially important topics,» shared student Radima Deunezheva.

Her classmate Anna Obreskova presented three works at the exhibition:

«I wanted to emphasize the importance of a person’s inner world and show that when life becomes rather dull, even simple details can bring color back into it. Art for me is a way of self-expression,» Anna noted.
The «Cry from the Heart» exhibition is located on the 6th floor of the KBSU Information Center building and will run for several weeks, according to the organizers.
