Release date: 26.09.2022

September 22 at the Boiling Point of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov gave a lecture on economics and ecology. The lecturer was a member of the Board of Trustees of the KBSU, Russian economist, statesman, State Councilor of the Russian Federation 2nd class Muhamed Tsikanov.

More than 50 1st-3rd year students of economics and dentistry attended the lecture “Economics and Ecology. Consequences of the decisions taken. The organizers of the meeting are the Center for Psychophysics of Management Decisions and Behavioral Economics of the KBSU and the Department of Management and Marketing of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance. The lecturer raised the topics of fundamental misconceptions in the economic sector, environmental issues, in particular global warming, and talked about how decisions made in the economic sphere can affect the state of the environment.

“Global warming, economics, ecology — the vast majority of theories or concepts in these areas are based on myths and near-scientific reasoning. I will try to show you with facts and figures what kind of myths they are and how unreliable they are,” — Tsikanov said. — There is an opinion that global warming occurs solely in connection with human activity, with the fact that he, a person, burns fossil fuels. This is a false statement. Global warming itself may exist, but the causes are in a completely different area, and there are many factors: space, the sun, the solar system, the mantle, and so on».

To prove this, the lecturer suggested taking a calculator and doing simple mathematical calculations.

“If CO2, obtained by burning fossil fuels by humans, is the cause of greenhouse gas, and then the cause of global warming, it is necessary to consider the very structure of this gas. The share of greenhouse gases per year is 7-7.5 trillion per year, where the share of CO2 is 15-16%. And of the total CO2, only 5% is the burning of fossil fuels. In the total amount of greenhouse gases (7-7.5 trillion per year), the share of the human factor is only 0.5%» — Muhamed Muhadinovich explained.

The author spoke in more detail about global warming on his YouTube channel TSIKANOV.

The next lecture-discussion from the series “Economics and Ecology. Consequences of the Decisions Made” is scheduled for December.
