Celebrating the Day of the Adyghe (Circassian) Flag at KBSU
On April 24, KBSU hosted a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the Adyghe (Circassian) Flag. The initiators and organizers were the Pedagogical College of IPPiFSO and the UNESCO Department of KBSU.
The Adyghe flag is an important symbol of the Adyghe people. Its design is a green rectangular field with three crossed golden arrows and twelve golden stars corresponding to the twelve Adyghe tribes. The arrows symbolize unity and the green color of the flag symbolizes life. The flag reflects the rich history of the Adyghe people, their culture, language, customs and traditions, passed on from generation to generation as spiritual values.
At the festival, guests were able to enjoy a literary and musical performance with the participation of pop artists from Kabardino-Balkaria, such as Aslan Kardanov, Ratmir Bifov, Asker Getazheev, Aslan Tkhakumachev. Students of the Pedagogical College presented an extensive program of national musical, dance and poetic performances.
In her welcoming address, Rimma Maremkulova, teacher of theory and methods of primary education at the Pedagogical College, noted that the Day of the Adyghe (Circassian) Flag is celebrated annually on April 25 by all Adyghe (Circassians) — Kabardians, Adygeans, Circassians, Shapsugs, as well as the Adyghe (Circassian) diaspora .
The head of the UNESCO Department of KBSU, Alim Bogatyrev, thanked the organizers and participants of the event. He emphasized:
“The flag is one of the main symbols of the people, an expression of their culture and worldview. Preserving the culture of each nation forms the common culture of the multinational people of Russia and the world community.”
The participants were presented with thanks and certificates from the UNESCO Department of KBSU. The management of the department expressed special gratitude to teacher Sakima Posholova.
