As part of the annual interdepartmental operation of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs «Clean Generation,» a preventive discussion with international students of the preparatory course of the Higher School of International Education was held at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. The main goals of the event were to prevent youth involvement in drug trafficking, promote a healthy lifestyle, and strengthen law and order among students. Particular attention was paid to the legal and social adaptation of students from Turkmenistan.

The meeting was organized by the KBSU Coordination Center with the participation of the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The speaker was Police Lieutenant Colonel Irina Davydova, Senior Detective of the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

In her speech, she discussed in detail the scale of the drug addiction problem and legal liability for offenses related to this issue.

«Even a single drug use can have irreversible health consequences. Drug addiction is often the first step toward committing serious crimes, including terrorist and extremist acts,» noted the police lieutenant colonel. «In the Russian Federation, law provides for criminal liability for offenses related to drug trafficking: prison sentences can be lengthy, and in some cases, even life imprisonment. Remember: one distributor harms dozens of lives, and the state takes this extremely seriously.»
The law enforcement representative recommended that international students adhere to important safety rules. It is important to immediately report any suspicious situations to their supervisors or the police and strictly adhere to the rules of residence and safety in KBSU dormitories.

The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue: students received explanations from representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the legal aspects of living in Russia and also learned about opportunities for legal and psychological assistance at the university.
