Student of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of KBSU Kirill Shiryaev became the winner of the competition for young scientists within the framework of the conference “Thermophysics -2024”
Master’s students of the 2nd year of study in the «Physics» direction of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after. Kh. M. Berbekova took part in the 45th scientific and technical conference “Thermophysics of New Generation Reactors (TEPLOPHYSICS — 2024)”, which was held on April 16–19 in Obninsk and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the launch of the world’s first nuclear power plant (which is located in Obninsk).
Zuber Khabilov and Kirill Shiryaev presented the results of scientific research conducted under the guidance of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Boris Alchagirov. Teachers of the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Physics Fatima Dyshekova and Oksana Kanametova provided scientific and methodological assistance in preparing reports for the conference.
As part of the conference, KBSU master’s students took part in a competition of scientific works of young scientists along with graduate students and students of well-known Russian universities that train specialists for the state atomic energy corporation Rosatom.
Zuber Khabilov’s report was devoted to the calculation of the critical temperatures of alkali metals and eutectic sodium-potassium melt. They are used in nuclear energy, as well as in various innovative nuclear and non-nuclear technologies.
By decision of the organizing committee of the conference, the winner of the competition of scientific works was recognized as master’s student of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of KBSU, Kirill Shiryaev, for his report “On the issue of the wettability of 12X18H9T steel with liquid tin.”
The results of physical and chemical studies of the processes of interphase interaction of liquid metals with new reactor steels, carried out by Kirill Shiryaev, are of great practical interest for developing optimal design solutions when constructing a new generation of powerful nuclear power plants,
— noted Boris Alchagirov.
We congratulate Kirill Shiryaev on his success and wish him new victories and achievements.
