Artist and KBGU Lecturer Alim Pasht-Han to Unveil New Work in Germany

Alim Pasht-Han—a People’s Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and a leading specialist at the German Pashtov Creative Workshop at Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU)—will present a new project at the Leuchtenburg Porcelain Museum in Germany.

The artwork, created in collaboration with artist Murat Khashu, will be installed in the underground station of a new funicular leading to the medieval castle. It is the largest tapestry in Thuringia, a federal state in eastern Germany. The installation is scheduled to open in November 2026.

The monumental piece is a wall-mounted panorama measuring 13 meters in length and 2.5 meters in height. The composition is based on a large-scale textile panel created using the tufting technique, into which approximately 40 porcelain elements have been integrated.

«We drew inspiration from geological structures—specifically, the cross-section of rock strata exposed during the construction of the tunnel through the mountain,» explained Alim Pasht-Han.
An elevator connects the station housing the artwork to the castle; it traverses a vertical rise of about 61 meters, directly linking the parking area at the foot of the mountain to the museum.

Alim Pasht-Han is known as the creator of the centerpiece of the «Porcelain Worlds» exhibition, which opened at Leuchtenburg in 2015. That work is an eight-meter-tall vase assembled from 360 individual elements. According to the exhibition organizers, the artist set a record with this piece, creating the world’s largest porcelain vase.
