Speaking about science at KBSU
September 27 at the Boiling Point of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov passed the scientific battle «The Scientist Says», where the battle of scientific projects took place, as they say, not for life, but for laughter. This positive educational project has been implemented by the Russian society «Knowledge» since April 2022 for schoolchildren and students in order to popularize science and scientific knowledge — experts tell the children about important scientific ideas, modern research and their benefits for people’s lives in an accessible and entertaining way.
The speakers at the battle were Danil Maklakov, adviser to the rector of the National Research University BelSU, a postgraduate student of the UNN named after N.I. Lobachevsky Ekaterina Kachalova, winner of the League of Lecturers — 2021 Sergey Podkovalnikov, employee of the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University Grigory Raganyan, master student of the direction «Medical Chemistry» of Sirius University Timur Mannanov.
More than 50 KBSU students came to find out how speakers talk about the abilities of human bones; synthesis of new derivatives: carbon prolongs life; cellular minced meat; sorbents for water purification; human in vitro and nanomaterials: a biomedical application. But they received not only knowledge, but also a lot of positive emotions. “There are 3 rounds in total. The main task is to talk about science in a short and accessible way in 15 minutes. The project aims to tell young people about the profession of a scientist and its prestige. Also, to introduce scientific research and achievements in modern Russia,” — said Ekaterina Borisevich, director of the ANO “All-Caucasus Youth Training Center”.
About the project: The Scientist Speaks is a short and captivating presentation by leading Russian scientists and their young colleagues. Simply, clearly and with humor, they talk about their work, introduce the achievements of the country, and also share interesting facts from the field of physics, chemistry, biology and other disciplines. In total, about three thousand such performances are planned for 2022. Participation in the events of the Scientist Speaks project is free of charge, subject to preliminary online registration on the portal of the Russian society Knowledge.
