Intermediate results of the KBSU admission campaign in 2022

Release date: 15.08.2022

On August 8, in the radio program on the wave 99, 5 FM, Elena Beslaneeva, the host of the Frank Conversation program, had a conversation with the Acting Vice-Rector for the organization of admission and pre-university activities of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov Arsen Kharaev and the head of admission organization Timur Tabishev, who spoke about the interim results of the KBSU admission campaign for 2022.

— Arsen Mukhamedovich, the order on enrolling in KBSU for state-funded places will be issued on August 9, 2022. As for the commercial basis, who can become your potential student? Where can I go, in what directions?
— Those who did not pass the competition for budget places have the right to apply for admission to KBSU on a contract basis for all areas and any specialty. Note that there are 5 specialties (General Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Law and Economics), which under the contract can be entered if you have more than 160 points according to the results of the Unified State Examination. This principle does not apply to other areas.

— You said before that it takes only 17 minutes for an applicant to submit documents to KBSU. Has anything changed?
— The timing of the service is the same. An applicant, entering the walls of our university, first turns to a professional consultant and receives all the necessary information, after which he goes to scan documents and gets to a technical operator who enters copies of documents and the necessary data into the information system of the university, connected with the federal system of the Ministry of Science and higher education.

— Timur Arsenovich, earlier you said that the number of applicants has become higher compared to the same period last year. How many people have applied for admission to your university by August 8?
– To date, there are more than 7 thousand applicants in the admissions information system. This is more than a thousand people more than last year’s figure on this date. According to our plans, about 5,200–5,600 people, including about 500 foreign students, will be admitted to state-funded and contract places under higher and secondary specialized education programs.

— Do foreign students continue to enter KBSU?
— Of course! Today, more than 10% of students at KBSU are students from different countries, this year their number should increase, at least 500 people will be accepted.

– Will the university be able to handle such a large number of students?
– The university has all the conditions for a student to study normally. There are enough places in dormitories, the classroom fund allows you to train at least 17 thousand people.

— This year, several more areas of study have appeared, which ones?
— We announced admission to new specialties, such as «Medical and preventive work» at the Faculty of Medicine and «Clinical Psychology» at the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Education and Sports Education. Both specialties are in demand. We already see that we are already recruiting one group at a time.

— Timur Arsenovich, is there any statistics on the admissions campaign, in which areas are more people enrolled?
— Traditionally, of course, medical areas, economics, and law are in demand, but I want to note that over the past few years, such technical areas as Computer Science and Computer Engineering, Information Security have become in high demand. I would also like to mention the directions «Architecture», «Construction» and «Linguistics». Our competitive scores for Linguistics are almost the same as for the Faculty of Medicine.

— You said that the IT sector is in great demand here, please tell us how many people enter IT areas compared to other years? Do you think that now they are more moving towards this direction, because the decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On measures to ensure the accelerated development of the information technology industry in the Russian Federation” was issued?
— State support for IT areas is very noticeable. The founder of our university, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, provided 120 state-funded places last year, and 150 places in IT areas in 2022, and in this regard, we have organized a number of new structures. So, a new institute was formed — the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, during the admission campaign, all the places at the main stage were filled. This proves that applicants are closely following the progress of IT areas.

– In recent years, interest in secondary specialized education has increased. How are things going in this direction at KBSU?
— There are 4 colleges in the structure of KBSU: medical, pedagogical, design college, college of information technologies and economics. If last year we received 580 budget places under the program of secondary vocational education, then in 2022 there will be 870 of them. There are more budget places both on the basis of 9 classes and on the basis of 11 classes.

– What advice can you give to students and applicants of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Berbekov?
Arsen Haraev: I would like them to study and prosper at KBSU. So that young people do not forget to write consent to enrollment. To parents, thank you for raising your children.
Timur Tabishev: I recommend that those applicants who have not yet entered, get acquainted on the website of the KBSU admissions committee with all the relevant information. The deadline for submitting documents for study on a contract basis at the level of undergraduate and residency is August 20.
