500 students will be enrolled in the “Digital Department” of KBSU
On September 22, 2023, an organizational meeting of participants in the educational project “Digital Departments” was held, at which students received comprehensive information about the format of training and the advantages of the curriculum.
The first organizational meeting was held by the project leader — Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies Albert Shapsigov and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Technologies and Information Security of the Institute of Computer Science and Technology, author of the project training programs Juliet Krymshokalova with students of the Institute of Architecture, Construction and Design (IACiD), Institute management, tourism and hospitality industry (IMTiIG), Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Education and Sports Education (IPPiFSO), Institute of Law, Economics and Finance (IPEiF), Institute of Physics and Mathematics (IFiM), Institute of Chemistry and Biology (IKhiB), social -Humanitarian Institute (SGI).
The goal of training students in the program is to obtain competencies in the field of “Communications, information and communication technologies” — in terms of developing digital competencies in the field of creating algorithms and computer programs suitable for practical use.
“People nowadays spend 50 to 100% of their time at the computer. You receive or search for, or create information, or process this information, make new studies, samples, reports, presentations, reports, letters. You then send this information to your partner, clients, superiors, and so on. Wherever a specialist now works, 80% of what he does, or maybe 100, fits into this model, so professional work with information becomes the most important skill of the 21st century, regardless of what is written in your diploma. The program you will learn is called “Fundamentals of Algorithmization and Database Management Systems.” You will master the basics of algorithms, the basics of Python, probably the most popular programming language right now. And this will be the first module. The second module is the basics of a database management system.
And most importantly, an obligatory part of the program is that at least 20% of the hours will be taught not by university teachers, but by professionals working in the relevant IT companies or IT departments of our industrial partners, for example, this could be Sberbank, Rostelecom, the Ministry of Health. That is, about 20% of your study time, and maybe more, you will comprehend the real experience of qualified employees,” emphasized Albert Shapsigov.
Training is provided free of charge. It is planned to train more than 500 students under this program. After completing their studies at KBSU, along with a diploma in the main educational program, students will receive a second diploma of professional retraining with the qualification “Information Systems Specialist”.
During the discussion, students got acquainted with the terms of the program, the format of training and the staff of project teachers, and received answers to all questions related to training.
The “Digital Departments” project has been launched at KBSU since July 2022 as part of a joint project of the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia to develop human resources in the IT field and is being implemented as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program.
