Freshman Week at KBSU: The High-Energy «Meloman» Game

Freshman Week has kicked off at Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU). The series of events opened with «Meloman» (Music Lover), an intellectual and entertaining game that brought together twenty teams in the university’s cinema and concert hall. First-year students competed for the title of top music experts.

The event turned into a genuine musical battle, with two rounds featuring music spanning various genres and eras.

The first stage served as a qualifier: participants had to identify artists from album covers, recall Russia’s first success at Eurovision, and recognize iconic bands from their hit songs.

Following the qualifying round, only eight of the twenty teams advanced to the next stage.

The second round followed the format of the popular quiz show «Svoya Igra» (Jeopardy!-style). Thematic categories included «Songs of Our Fathers,» «Movie Soundtracks,» «Student Spring Festival Songs,» and more.

«Meloman» offered students a fantastic opportunity to test their musical knowledge and make new friends while bonding through team competition.

Even more exciting events lie ahead for the students, including a «Dance Break,» a sports competition, and the «Festival of Firsts.» The week will conclude with the official freshman initiation ceremony.
