2022 — Cultural heritage year in Russia
By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, 2022 was declared the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the peoples of our country. The head of state supported this initiative in November 2019 at a meeting of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation, which was held in Nalchik. “It is important to fill its program well and meaningfully, to take into account the peculiarities of each of our regions,” the head of our country said at the time. “We need to support and protect the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, that’s the point. Cultural heritage is what distinguishes us from animals, what really passes from generation to generation, what must be preserved. At the same time, it is not transmitted genetically, therefore it must be preserved, our future depends on it,” — said Mikhail Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage, a member of the KBSU Board of Trustees. In the near future, the organizing committee will determine a plan of events that will be held within the framework of the Year of Cultural Heritage throughout the country.
