Release date: 13.12.2022

December 12, 2022 at the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov celebrated the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation. The celebration began with the writing of the VII All-Russian test for knowledge of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. What form of government is in Russia, for the implementation of which constitutional right it is necessary to have citizenship of the Russian Federation, how many branches of power in the Russian Federation — these and other questions about the Basic Law of Russia were answered by KBSU students on the website of the Public Movement «Citizen».

The action is held annually to assess the level of legal literacy of Russians and the motivation of society to study the state system and fulfill constitutional obligations. The festive events continued in the training hall of the IPEiF, where teachers and students of the 3rd and 4th courses of the institute played in a production based on the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky «Crime and Punishment» together with the North Caucasian State Institute of Arts and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The audience was presented with the scene of the trial of Raskolnikov.

And the main «highlight» was the participation in the production of the director of the IPEiF, candidate of legal sciences Elena Mashukova, she brilliantly played the role of Avdotya, Raskolnikov’s sister. The legal theater gathered a full house of students, teachers, representatives of law enforcement agencies.

«Students of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance of the KBSU together with the North Caucasian State Institute of Arts offered to play the scene of the trial of the main character of the novel «Crime and Punishment» — Rodion Raskolnikov. The performance is costumed, it carries the message to exclude the possibility of committing a crime in any case. That is, no crime can be justified, no matter what it is and no matter what theory it is justified, it is still impossible to allow the commission of criminally punishable acts. And it does not matter whether it is a student or a representative of other social strata, — commented the director of IPEiF, candidate of legal sciences Elena Mashukova.

— The staging is very fair, beautiful. We practically did not interfere in the students’ work on the performance — they wrote the script on their own and corrected us during the rehearsal moments. In addition to students, teachers of our institute and employees of the KBR prosecutor’s office are involved in the production. Unfortunately, the audience is small, we did not count on such attention from our colleagues and friends. Let’s hope that this is just the beginning of a long journey and, as a result, our ambitions will bring us with this production to a larger stage — for example, to the Sokurov Hall of KBSU».

The presentation ended with a discussion with the audience on the nature of crimes, measures to prevent them and the need to work with young people.
