Young Families at KBSU: Science Uniting Hearts
Aslanbek and Sabina Tlupov are engaged in scientific research, medicine, and raising their daughter.
Starting a family is the beginning of a shared journey, where personal stories, professions, and everyday concerns intertwine.
Aslanbek is a graduate student in the Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov. He has been working at the Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies at KBSU for eight years. His research focuses on high-molecular compounds and polymer composites for 3D printing.
«I came to science thanks to my supervisor, Svetlana Yuryevna Khashirova. After entering my first year, I planned to transfer to the medical program. But one conversation with her was enough to understand where to go and why,» Aslanbek recalls.
He is currently preparing to defend his PhD dissertation, which is devoted to the development of polymer composites for 3D printing. She studies how adding one polymer to another can lead to the development of unique properties, and is engaged in selecting optimal methods for producing and processing polymer mixtures, as well as for their subsequent research. The materials for the experiments have already been selected, and the next step will be the creation of the first composites and their comprehensive study.
Sabina is completing her residency at the North Ossetian State Medical Academy. It was no accident that she chose dentistry:
«As a teenager, I spent two years going to an orthodontist, wearing braces, and ultimately developed a love for dentistry and smiles,» she says. «Honestly, I always wanted to be a doctor. I dreamed of going to medical school, majoring in General Medicine. But those two years shaped my entire life. Whenever I met someone, I suddenly began to notice their smile and their teeth. So, dentistry was a conscious choice.»
Sabina is currently on maternity leave, but she is determined to return to the profession and implement the advanced technologies she learned and applied while working in St. Petersburg in Nalchik. Her dream is to improve the quality of dental care in her hometown.
With the birth of their daughter, Emilia, the young couple’s life has been filled with new worries and joys. They understand that being parents is a huge responsibility. Every day, they learn to be better for their daughter and for each other.
For a long and happy journey together, openness and communication are essential, Sabina believes:
«From the very beginning, I try to ensure that we discuss everything. I love sharing my thoughts and emotions. It’s important for me to speak out and let others know what I like and don’t like.»
Aslanbek adds: «I also try to express my thoughts in my own way. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. The most important thing is understanding and respect.
Speaking about mutual respect, Sabina notes, “There are many components here, because a family isn’t just two people, but also many participants and members. It’s essential that both he and I treat our loved ones well. He should respect my parents, and I should respect him. This approach creates an atmosphere of trust and support, where everyone feels part of a whole.”
“Mutual respect doesn’t need to be achieved—it shouldn’t be lost. We adhere to certain rules that help us stay on the same page: honesty, support, and a willingness to listen to each other,” Aslanbek continues.
Sabina also emphasizes the value of spending time together: “We try to spend time together, get out and about, so that routine doesn’t consume us. This helps keep our relationships fresh and the joy of communication alive.”
Then she adds, “I believe in enjoying life.” Her words are full of optimism and zest for life. They remind us to appreciate every moment and find happiness in simple things, like morning coffee, a walk, or a meeting with loved ones. Sabina is confident that these little things are the foundation of family harmony.
On Family, Love, and Fidelity Day, these tips are especially important. They show how to appreciate your family, find new emotions, and create pleasant memories. These are the moments that strengthen the bonds between people and make life brighter.
