Release date: 22.12.2022

On December 15, 2022, volunteers and employees of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov took part in the annual charity event «Wish Tree». The start of the action in the Hall of Columns of the Government House of the KBR was given by the head of the republic Kazbek Kokov. He expressed his gratitude to the volunteers of the Resource Center for the Development of Volunteering (Volunteerism) of the KBR, who, like in previous years, organized this republican action. The head of the republic removed several envelopes with the cherished desires of children from the «Christmas Tree of Desires».

Together with the head of the republic, parliamentarians, members of the government, heads of territorial federal and law enforcement agencies, heads of administrations of municipalities of the republic, representatives of the academic community took part in the charity event.

Rector of KBSU Yuri Altudov, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vadim Lesev, Vice-Rector for Personnel and Organizational and Legal Affairs Murat Gukepshokov, Vice-Rector for Admissions and Pre-University Activities Arsen Kharaev and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Educational Work and Social Affairs Sultan Gekkiev, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ismail Miziev, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Sports Education Olga Mikhailenko and Director of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance Elena Mashukova, as well as 25 activists of the KBSU Volunteer Center.

Volunteers serve as a link between the child and the wish maker. The guys are responsible for information about what the child wants to receive as a gift, and where he now lives. Volunteers will also deliver gifts to children. The Wishing Tree is one of the most favorite events of our center, which allows you to feel the New Year’s atmosphere and give faith in the best. The event gets bigger every year. This year, more than 1,500 children will receive a gift from Santa Claus, — shared the head of the KBSU volunteer center Zarina Ozrokova. As in previous years, the branches of the Tree of Wishes hosted the dreams of pupils of social institutions, children with disabilities, children left without parental warmth, children from families in difficult life situations. Children ask Father Frost for Lego sets, sportswear, toys, equipment…

And those who remove children’s envelopes from the Christmas tree help to fulfill these requests. For the first time this action was held in 2018, the charity project was proposed by volunteers. Then President Vladimir Putin supported the initiative of active youth, and the action began to be held annually throughout Russia. In Kabardino-Balkaria, active participation in the «Christmas Tree of Wishes» has become a good tradition and is supported by an increasing number of patrons. The region promised to fulfill the wishes of the participants of the action before the new year. And the all-Russian action «Wish Tree» will last until February 28, 2023.
