Russian senator met with students of KBSU
Senator of the Russian Federation, representative of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic from the Parliament of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets Mukharbiy Ulbashev met on October 27, 2022 with the leadership and student activists of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University. Representing the guest, acting rector of KBSU Yuri Altudov noted that Mukharbiy Ulbashev studied as a veterinarian at the Kabardino-Balkarian Agroreclamation Institute, and after that he received an economic education at KBSU.
In turn, the senator expressed his admiration for the changes that have taken place in his alma mater since he studied here from 1985 to 1990:
«You are very lucky. You are students of a university that only gets better with age. Thanks to its leaders, KBSU is the center of scientific activity of the republic, the guarantor of high-quality training in a wide range of areas both for our republic and for the country as a whole. Before our meeting, Rector Yuri Altudov and I walked around some scientific laboratories, visited the simulation center of the Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery and was pleasantly surprised by the conditions that are created at the university so that you, students, receive excellent knowledge».
The statesman told the youth how his professional path developed. At first he worked as a senior doctor of the Kabardino-Balkarian sanitary and veterinary detachment. Then, after graduating from KBSU, for a year he was an instructor of the Oktyabrsky District Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League of the city of Nalchik. Subsequently, he served as the first secretary of the Tyrnyauz city committee, secretary of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional committee of the Komsomol, headed the permanent commission of the Supreme Council of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. He was the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council. In 1993, Mukharbiy Ulbashev won the elections of deputies of the Council of the Republic of the Parliament of the KBR, served as co-chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations. Subsequently, he became a deputy of the State Duma from the political party Our Home is Russia. He was a member of the Committee on Regulations and Organization of the State Duma. In 2001 he was appointed a senator to the Federation Council.
He was Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee, member of the Committee on Budget, Tax Policy, Financial, Currency and Customs Regulation, Banking. From 2004 to 2014, he headed the preliminary control department of the Federal Insurance Supervision Service. Appointed as a real state adviser of the Russian Federation III class. He was elected as a deputy of the KBR Parliament of the 5th convocation. Since October 11, 2014, Mukharbiy Ulbashev has been delegated to the Federation Council by the Government of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. He holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets. In a conversation with students, the senator noted that it is never too late to change the trajectory of one’s professional activity, but whatever a person does, his work must be in tune with the interests of society. Based on his life experience, Mukharbiy Ulbashev gave the children some useful advice:
“The main thing in the life of any person is the family, if a person is doing well in the family, this is the most important thing for the state”, “The best books are Russian and foreign classics, since it reflects eternal truths”, “Politician is not the best profession. It is better to help relatives».
The conversation also touched upon issues of the economy, the current political situation. Mukharbiy Ulbashev was extremely frank in his answers, for which the students were grateful to him, showing a sincere interest in his work and life path in their questions.
