President of the All-Russian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery — KBSU graduate
Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurotrauma of the Scientific Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology of the Moscow Department of Health, chief freelance specialist in pediatric neurosurgery in Moscow and the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, graduate of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov Zhanna Semenova at the V All-Russian Congress on Pediatric Neurosurgery was elected President of the All-Russian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
The congress, which took place on March 3-5 in Moscow at the National Medical Research Center for Neurosurgery named after N.N.Burdenko, attended by more than 190 participants from all regions of the Russian Federation. In addition, about 300 people became its listeners online.
Zhanna Borisovna Semenova after graduating from the medical faculty of KBSU since 1983 worked in Nalchik as a neurosurgeon at the Republican Clinical Hospital, graduated from the targeted postgraduate and doctoral studies at the N.N. Burdenko.
In 2003, at the invitation of prof. LM Roshalya headed the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurotrauma at the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology. As the main performer, he develops scientific and practical issues of urgent neurosurgery and rehabilitation treatment of children. To a large extent, this refers to the problems of traumatic brain injury in children. Zhanna Borisovna is the author of clinical guidelines for the treatment of TBI in children.
Supervises and develops such scientific and practical areas as non-traumatic hemorrhages in children, control of intracranial pressure, decompressive craniectomy, reconstructive surgery of injuries, prognosis of damaged brain recovery in children, a multidisciplinary approach in the rehabilitation treatment of children with acute cerebral insufficiency, markers of brain damage and repair.
Zhanna Borisovna is the initiator and organizer of the annual All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation «Restoration of a damaged brain in children» and «Urgent neurosurgery of children».
Organizer and guest lecturer of a number of educational cycles dedicated to pediatric neurosurgery: «North Caucasian school-seminar on topical issues of pediatric neurosurgery and surgery of injuries in children», which was held four times at the KBSU; «Far Eastern School-Seminar on Topical Issues of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Emergency Surgery»; master class «Prehospital care for children with severe concomitant and isolated traumatic brain injury — 2009» (Moscow); International School of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Neurotrauma — 2011 «(Moscow); RUNEIRO-2013 (Moscow), master class «Traumatic brain injury in children» (Yekaterinburg, 2013), an annual educational course on the treatment of traumatic brain injury (Irkutsk, 2011, 2012, 2013). Zhanna Semenova has more than 260 SCIENTIFIC articles, of which more than 70 are published in leading scientific journals, including English-language ones.
