Mirland Kazanchev — new leader of the KBSU student council

On October 26, a reporting and electoral conference of university students was held at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov.

In the presence of Minister of Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the CBD, Aues Kumykov, Vice-Rector of Educational and Social Affairs Sultan Gekkiev; Chairman of the KBSU trade union organization Igor Kobozev and 148 delegates from among the KBSU students, the resigned chairman of the student council of the university, Ahmed Autlov, reported for the period from 2015 to 2018.

In his report, he spoke about what had been achieved during the reporting period, and noted:

“The main goal of the student organization is the maximum involvement of students in the public life of the university. That is what we sought. To date, the university operates 17 club formations, whose activities involve about 50% of full-time students. This is more than 5 thousand students. The development of the club movement, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the development of the volunteer movement and the development of social design skills among students have become priority areas of activity. In 2017, the Volunteer Center of KBSU was included in the TOP 25 best centers of Russia. Cultural and creative activities have been developed, such large projects as Vivat Student, Miss Student, Student Spring have been held annually. It should be noted, and the educational value of the work of the Council, forming in students such qualities as interpersonal skills, initiative, creativity, self-confidence, the student council contributes to the development of their personalities. One of the most effective tools of this work is the school of an asset for leaders of student self-government «Avgustenok». In the framework of the All-Russian seminar for the organizers of student camps, an asset, our school became the winner in the nomination “The best model of the school of student activists”.

Ahmed Autlov also spoke about the successful implementation of other cultural and mass, patriotic, scientific and sports projects.

Following the discussion of the reporting presentations, a draft resolution of the KBGU students’ report and election conference was adopted, which states that the work of the KBSU student council for 2015-2018 to protect the rights of KBSU students and support their social initiatives was found to be satisfactory.

The key issue on the agenda is the election of a new chairman of the university student council.

Candidates were Asker Shibzukhov (chairman of the environmental work unit of the KBSU “Green Watch”) and Mirland Kazanchev (chairman of the IEAE Student Council). According to the results of open voting, Mirland Kazanchev became the new student leader of KBSU.

Minister of Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the KBR, Aues Kumykov gave him a little guidance. He recalled how in 1991, on the instructions of the then rector of the KBSU Vladimir Tlostanov, he founded the student council immediately after Moscow State University.

“For 27 years I have been somehow connected with this organization. I care about its fate. Therefore, Mirland, do not forget about the traditions that have already been established, always protect the interests of students of KBSU”, — said Aues Kumykov. He also appealed to all those present to be active in their good intentions and actions, stressing that the new leadership of the republic is committed to supporting the youth of the KBR.

“The history of the student council of the university is inextricably linked with the history of Kabardino-Balkaria. Created in 1991, the Student Council is today the locomotive of both student and youth life in the whole of our republic”, — said Sultan Gekkiev, Vice Rector of Educational Work and Social Issues of the KBSU. Thanking the team of Ahmed Autlov for the good work, he wished the new staff, keeping the good traditions of the former student council, to reach a new, higher quality level and achieve well-deserved results.

The newly elected chairman, in turn, assured that he would justify the confidence placed in him.
