KBSU students, future journalists, learned some secrets of the profession from experienced colleagues

At the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov held a meeting between the leadership of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional branch of the all-Russian public organization “Union of Journalists of Russia” and students of the social and humanitarian institute, direction “Journalism”.

Teacher Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of Ethnology, History of the Peoples of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and Journalism Murat Khokonov introduced the guests: Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Kabardino-Balkaria, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Adyge psal’e” Zaurbek Zhilyasov, his deputy, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Zaman” Khasan Konakov and executive secretary , editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Soviet Youth” Zalina Suanova.

The meeting turned out to be eventful and informative. The guests spoke about the emergence and development of journalism in Kabardino-Balkaria, and about its current state. It was noted that the republic’s media is now undergoing a process of generational change, and today’s students of the journalism department will be in demand in the near future.

At the current stage, your main task is to absorb all the theoretical knowledge that the teachers give you,” Zaurbek Zhilyasov said, addressing those present. – At the same time, you must now decide on your priorities in the future and establish contacts with editorial offices where you would like to try your hand. We are ready to provide any assistance in this matter, and our doors are always open. Only by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills can you become qualified journalists.
During a lively conversation, students were interested in the activities of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional branch of the all-Russian public organization «Union of Journalists of Russia», the possibility of cooperation with the republican media, the conditions of activity of the journalistic community, vacancies in editorial offices and wages. All these questions received comprehensive answers.

After the meeting with the students, the leaders of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia got acquainted with the material and technical base and the process of training student “journalists” of KBSU.
