KBSU Expands Spheres Of Foreign Cooperation

Rector and President of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov Yuri Altudov and Barasbi Karamurzov took part in the III Forum of Rectors of Russian and Ibero-American Universities, which was held at the Intellectual Center — the Fundamental Library of Moscow State University chaired by the Rector of Moscow University, President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Academician V.A. Sadovnichy.

In his opening report, V.A. Sadovnichy spoke about the work of the Russian Union of Rectors for a quarter of a century of its existence and about the education system in Russia, about the cooperation of Moscow University with the countries whose representatives came to the forum.

The first Forum of University Rectors of Russia, Spain and Latin America was held in 2010 in Madrid. Successful conduct in the presence of top officials of Russia and Spain contributed to the further expansion of ties between universities in the educational and scientific fields and became a kind of catalyst for future cooperation. The second forum was held a year later at Moscow University. It was attended by more than 100 university managers from Russia, Spain, Central and South America, and at the end more than 20 cooperation agreements were signed. Over the past years, relations between universities of Russia and the Ibero-American countries have only strengthened.

Representatives of 43 universities of Russia and 39 universities of Spain, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Guatemala took part in the meeting of the III Forum of Rectors of Russian and Ibero-American universities.

The rectors of Russian universities and their foreign colleagues told about their universities and the regions they represent, highlighted the main scientific and educational areas in which inter-university cooperation could be developed in the future.

The rector of KBSU, Yuri Altudov, spoke about the significant growth dynamics of foreign students in the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov, dictated by the interest of the countries of the Middle East, Africa and South America to the content and quality of Russian education. Recall that today over a thousand foreign citizens from more than 30 countries study at the university.

Yuri Kambulatovich noted that the majority of foreign students study at the university in the direction of «Medicine», however, a tendency of growth in the number of students in areas within the TOP of promising professions — «Economics», «Management», «Jurisprudence», «Electronics and Computing», «Building». In response to modern needs, the university modernizes educational programs, increases the number of teachers teaching in international English, expands the range of business contacts with foreign companies interested in training specialists in the standards of the Russian higher education system.

At the forum 10 bilateral agreements on scientific and educational cooperation between universities — participants of the meeting were signed. One of the agreements — between KBSU them. H.M. Berbekova and the Cuban State Mining and Metallurgical Institute of the city of Moa. The subject of the agreement is cooperation in the fields of academic programs, scientific projects, social sciences and languages, as well as institutional development and in other areas. The tentative dates of business meetings between the parties to the agreement were outlined.

Representing the projects of the Russian Union of Rectors, V.A. Sadovnichy paid special attention to the Moscow international university ranking “Three University Missions” and invited colleagues to participate in it and in the International Conference “Third University Mission”, which will be held from November 30 to December 1, 2018 at Moscow State University.
