Based on the 2026 results, Kabardino-Balkarian State University improved its position by seven notches in the annual RAEX-100 ranking of the best Russian universities, ranking 82nd among the country’s leading universities. Furthermore, the university rose to 51st place in terms of graduate demand by employers and entered the top 100 in the Education and Science categories. This growth was achieved amid the active implementation of its development program and the university’s transition to a technological leadership model.

KBSU’s achievements were presented at the «Three Missions of Russian Education» forum, organized by the RAEX rating agency with the support of the Russian Union of Rectors. The event, held at the Digital Business Space in Moscow, brought together the heads of leading Russian universities, representatives of government, business, and the expert community.

A KBSU delegation, led by Acting Head of the RAEX-100, participated in the forum. The forum was chaired by Acting Rector Yuri Altudov. It also included Vice Rector for Economics and Strategic Development Aslan Pshigoshev, Assistant to the Rector Sergey Shagin, Head of the Center for Monitoring and Rating Research at the University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Vitaly Kvashin, and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Zurab Berelidze.

The forum’s business program focused on the transformation of higher education, the scientific mission of universities, interaction with employers, and modern management tools.

Speaking during the expert discussions, Acting Rector of KBSU Yuri Altudov emphasized the strategic importance of these areas:

«Today, the speed of technological change requires the constant updating of knowledge and competencies. Therefore, continuing and postgraduate education programs are becoming one of the key tools for training personnel for the modern economy. For KBSU, this is an important strategic area, allowing us to quickly respond to employer demands and support the development of the region.» Zurab Berelidze, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at KBSU, presented a report during a section devoted to university engagement with target audiences and adapting business approaches to solving university problems. He described the university’s experience in developing a product-oriented innovation management system in line with the Priority 2030 program and presented a pilot product platform, «Health Bioeconomy.»

«Our goal is not to reform the university, but to teach it to quickly assemble the necessary competencies around a specific technological challenge,» noted the KBSU speaker.
University representatives also participated in discussions on the implementation of AI in educational programs and new requirements for training personnel in the context of the technological transformation of the economy.

Participation in the forum allowed KBSU not only to present its own innovation management practices but also to learn about the best solutions from leading Russian universities and industrial partners. The results and management approaches obtained will be taken into account in the further implementation of the university’s development program and the formation of new mechanisms for achieving technological leadership goals.
