The development of environmental volunteering and the most attractive formats for youth to conduct environmental education and environmental protection activities were discussed at the round table «ECO-logical volunteering!», Held April 22 in Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov.

The meeting was attended by volunteers of the environmental unit of the KBSU “Green Watch” and representatives of the Non-State Environmental Center “NABU-Caucasus”.

Welcoming the guests from Adygea, Astemir Kyasov, head of the department for youth policy and educational work of the KBSU, noted:

«Now close attention is paid to environmental issues. Our university is doing a great job. On the initiative of the Green Watch, much has been done in terms of environmental protection. We are pleased to receive colleagues from neighboring regions, especially to learn about their work experience. We are always glad to cooperate»
.
Marina Avdienko, Development Manager at the NABU-Caucasus Non-State Environmental Protection Center, shared the results of their activities for the entire period of their existence since 2007:

«The main areas in which we work are wildlife conservation, environmental education and ecotourism. In the first direction, we are implementing a number of projects, including the preservation of boxwood, the study and protection of the Volga population of burial eagles, the study and protection of rare early-flowering plants. Volunteers have a lot of help with this. We go to schools, various organizations with educational actions. As for ecotourism, it requires the involvement of a large number of volunteers in order to show people how to relax without harming nature».

We carry out volunteer clean-ups, including the cleaning of river banks, most recently, together with the head of the KBR, Kazbek Kokov, laid an alley of trees. Two of our projects have grant support. This is “Share with KBSU”: a separate collection of garbage and the Interregional rally of volunteers “Environmental Record”, in which we also invite you to take part».
