Ecological team of KBSU took part in the action «Water of Russia»
On July 26, 2022, the labor environmental team of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov «Green Watch» joined the All-Russian volunteer environmental campaign «Water of Russia» and the competition of volunteer organizations «General Collection».
The All-Russian environmental action «Water of Russia» within the framework of the national project «Ecology» of the federal project «Preservation of Unique Water Bodies», organized by the Center for the Development of the Water Management Complex of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the Federal Water Resources Agency, has been held since 2014 and contributes to improving environmental awareness among the population of the country, including attracting the attention of the public and the younger generation to the protection and improvement of the quality of water resources. Preserving nature is the business of every person, and environmental volunteering just unites such people. Thanks to them, our planet is becoming cleaner. No matter how expensive any minerals are, there is nothing more valuable than a sip of clean fresh water. Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov is sure: “Water, a resource that we are used to taking for granted, is a condition of life and a powerful factor in the sustainable development of the state.” Therefore, I consider participation in the “Water of Russia” campaign to be a very necessary thing,” — commented Christina Kolomyltseva, head of the labor environmental detachment of the KBSU.
The cleanup took place in the floodplain of the Nalchik River, the cleaning area covered about 1.5 km. Along with volunteers and interested residents of the city, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the KBR, the Ecological Direction of Volunteers at the Resource Center for the Development of Volunteering of the KBR, the KBSU “Green Watch”, the regional branch of the All-Russian organization of environmental volunteers “Do!” took part in the cleaning. Through the efforts of the participants, 20 bags of garbage were collected, the total weight of which was 330 kg. It should be noted that every year the involvement of young people in environmental volunteering is becoming more and more. Young people are interested in aspects related to the cleanliness of the environment, so they actively show themselves at events, promotions and become «green» initiators who promote respect for nature, — says Kristina Kolomyltseva.
