Release date: 04.10.2024

On October 4, 2024, the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov became the venue for the XI scientific and practical conference «Current issues of infectious pathology of the North Caucasus region». The day before, a working meeting of the main freelance specialists of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts was held at the City Clinical Hospital No. 1. The participants of the meeting discussed the implementation of the plan to eliminate viral hepatitis C in both federal districts. The main freelance specialists in infectious diseases of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Chechnya, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Dagestan, Stavropol Krai, Astrakhan Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Adygea, Kalmykia, Crimea, Sevastopol, Rostov and Volgograd Oblasts made presentations. In addition to the presentations, the meeting agenda included symposia and discussions.

The conference continued at KBSU, where the first vice-rector of the university Murat Gukepshokov made a welcoming speech to the forum participants, noting the relevance of its topic and wishing them fruitful work and good results.

Vladimir Chulpanov, addressing the young audience, said:

Today, the main specialists in infectious diseases of two federal districts have gathered here. We will be able to see both the problems of each in order to solve them together, and its achievements in order to adopt and extrapolate to other subjects. I see many young eyes here. It seems to me that it is very important that this conference is taking place at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University. We all know how difficult the situation is with personnel in the infectious disease service, and not only there. And I am sure that holding such meetings within the walls of universities is one of our first opportunities to attract young specialists to our specialty, because the development of the infectious disease service is, of course, our personnel. Therefore, dear students, we are waiting for you after graduation in residency, then in graduate school and, of course, in the practice of our healthcare. I would like to wish all participants successful work and warm communication with specialists on the sidelines of this event.

The chief physician of the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Illnesses, the chief freelance specialist in infectious diseases in the North Caucasus Federal District, Marina Ivanova, noted that this is the first conference in the North Caucasus, within the framework of which colleagues from two districts meet to discuss pressing issues:

We intend to discuss our problems in a narrow professional circle, solutions and come to a common denominator in order to influence the executive authorities to improve the work of the infectious disease service in our districts.

The organizers of the forum — the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Health, Kabardino-Balkarian State University, the Republican Society of Infectious Disease Specialists and the Regional Clinical Hospital of the First All-Russian Association of Private Practice Doctors — focused on improving the professional knowledge of medical specialists from both districts (infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists, therapists, pediatricians, healthcare organizers, etc.) to carry out the most effective treatment, diagnostic and preventive measures for patients with a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), acute respiratory viral infections, chronic viral hepatitis, HIV infection and other infectious diseases in adults and children.

The topics of the reports covered a wide range of issues, including modern principles of diagnostics, clinical manifestations, treatment and prevention of COVID-19, acute respiratory viral infections, chronic viral hepatitis, HIV infection, whooping cough, brucellosis, leptospirosis, as well as some other diseases, including natural focal infections, taking into account modern conditions.

The new knowledge gained will help medical specialists effectively evaluate the results of laboratory tests, correctly conduct differential diagnostics, compare and correlate the results obtained with examination standards and modern approaches to therapy with subsequent assessment of the results of patient treatment.

A resolution will be adopted based on the results of the event, which will be sent to all subjects of both federal districts, to the ministries of health and health committees for decision-making. The information will also be submitted to the relevant department of the federal ministry.
