At KBSU, graduates of the Institute of Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (IERAI) received diplomas as metrology engineers

A ceremony conferring professional retraining diplomas on the 2026 graduates of the Institute of Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (IERAI) was held at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.

The event marked the final stage of the work carried out by KBSU since April 2025 as part of the national project to ensure technological leadership, «Production and Automation Equipment.» The project aims to train senior university students in developed or updated core higher education programs for organizations in the production of production and automation equipment. KBSU students successfully completed the additional program «Metrology Specialist» and earned the qualification of «Category II Metrology Engineer.» This diploma entitles them to professional work in the field of metrological support for measurements.

The program is implemented as a targeted training program for students at leading mechanical engineering companies in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) producing production and automation equipment: Nalchik High-Voltage Equipment Plant JSC, Imperial LLC, and NTRONIK LLC. These companies boast a well-developed production infrastructure, modern high-tech manufacturing facilities, and are interested in attracting young, qualified engineering personnel.

Distinguished guests at the event included Igor Lazarev, Deputy General Director of NZVA JSC; Artur Nartyzhev, General Director of NTRONIK LLC; Asker Tokov, Deputy Director of Imperial LLC; and representatives of KBSU’s management and heads of relevant departments.

Opening the ceremony, Zamir Shomakhov, Director of the Institute of Economics and Information Technologies, emphasized the strategic importance of the event for the university and the industry.

«Today we are celebrating the results of extensive work within the federal project ‘Science and Personnel for the Production of Production and Automation Equipment.'» The title «metrologist engineer» reflects the hard work of both faculty and students. «Any engineer knows: without precise measurements, neither reliable automation nor high-quality products are possible. Graduates confirmed their competence by successfully passing an independent professional assessment at the Qualification Assessment Center at the Regional Center for Standardization and Metrology,» noted Zamir Shomakhov.
The scale and significance of the educational program was outlined in his speech by Martin Yakhutlov, project manager and head of the Department of Automated Production Technology and Equipment at the Institute of Economics and Metrology.

«The main goal of this project is to attract talented young people studying technical specialties at universities to high-tech companies that manufacture production and automation equipment. These companies produce process equipment and other machines, cutting and measuring tools, tooling, and automation equipment, and are the foundation of the country’s technological development. At the initial stage of our work, we monitored the market and encountered a huge shortage of engineering personnel. Employers told us unequivocally: ‘Bring young specialists!'» «Metrology is in demand across all industries, and your competencies have already been confirmed by the Council for Professional Competencies of the Russian Union of Mechanical Engineers. This additional qualification will become your reliable professional capital,» emphasized Martin Yakhutlov.
The diploma presentation ceremony was held by representatives of industrial partners, led by Igor Lazarev, Deputy General Director of JSC NZVA. Thirty-four IERII graduates, who distinguished themselves as top students in technical fields, received certificates of professional retraining.
