A round table was held at KBSU to mark the Day of the Revival of the Balkar People

March 27, 2024 in the library of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov held a round table “The strength of the people in their sons”, dedicated to the Day of the Revival of the Balkar people.

University teachers and students took part in the dialogue.

Opening the meeting, the moderator and organizer of the round table, head of Department of Local History and Fiction Albina Kambachokova reminded students about the history of the holiday.

Deputy director of the SHI, candidate of Historical Sciences, associate Professor Hakim Gegraev noted that it is very important to preserve historical memory and not forget the lessons of the past.
Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of German and Romance Philology Rashid Alikaev shared his memories of his childhood in Kyrgyzstan with the students.

The worst thing about the exile was not hunger, not humiliation, but the fact that we, Balkars, were torn away from our home and the usual national way of life,
– he noted.

Friendship of peoples is a great thing,
– confident candidate of philological sciences, deputy director of the Center for Balkar culture named after O. Otarov Svetlana Tyubeyeva. It was the support of people of different nationalities that helped her parents survive through difficult years.

Let what happened to our elders never happen again.
– said Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Karachay-Balkarian Philology Mussa Ketenchiev. He called on young people to remember their roots and not be “mankurts”.

Students took an active part in the round table. Azamat Kuchmezov, studying at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies of KBSU, spoke about the problem of forced eviction of Balkars and their subsequent rehabilitation. Marat Bliev, a first-year student at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, made a report on the development of public education of the Balkar people after the restoration of autonomy.

At the meeting, young people recited poems by Kazim Mechiev and Kaisyn Kuliev.

On March 28, our republic celebrates the Day of the Revival of the Balkar people. It reminds us of perseverance and an unbroken spirit. May such a disaster never happen again!
