A competitive programming section has opened at KBSU
A competitive programming section has opened at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, with the support of the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems and Data Analysis of the Institute of Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (LISAD IERiI). The section focuses on working with first-year students who are interested in competitive programming and are ready to develop their skills in this field.
Competitive programming is an intellectual competition in which participants solve algorithmic problems against the clock, demonstrating expertise in programming, mathematics, and logical thinking. This format develops skills highly valued in the modern IT industry: the ability to find innovative solutions, work under deadlines, quickly master new technologies, and apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
The program is structured in stages: participants first master the basics of programming in C++, then move on to studying algorithms and data structures. This allows students to develop a solid foundation for professional growth and successful performance in competitions at various levels.
«Our goal is not only to prepare students for victory in Olympiads but also to develop their engineering culture, systems thinking, and teamwork skills. We strive to create an environment for sharing experiences, improve their algorithmic skills, and help each participant realize their potential,» notes Zalim Beslaneev, a research fellow at the Institute of Economics and Information Technologies (IERT)’s LISAD.
Participation in the section opens up opportunities for students to internships and employment opportunities at leading technology companies and research teams.
The section team also places special emphasis on the professional development of its mentors. Zalim Beslaneev recently successfully completed specialized courses in competitive programming for coaches organized by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), confirming the team’s commitment to the principles of continuous learning and the use of cutting-edge methods in the educational process.
KBSU invites everyone to become part of the community of future leaders of the digital economy.
