On October 12, 2022, on the main day of celebrations on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov, the opening of the University Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies took place. The ceremony was attended by the Head of the KBR Kazbek Kokov, who congratulated the university on the glorious anniversary and significant acquisition.

«Your activities are always relevant, and especially in the light of today and the obvious need for import substitution of progressive materials and technologies. The future of our country depends on your work!» — the head of the republic addressed the staff of the new center, headed by acting. vice-rector of KBSU for research work, doctor of chemical sciences Svetlana Hashirova.

Together with members of the Government of the KBR, Kazbek Kokov inspected the laboratories of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies, new equipment, thanks to which it is possible to carry out not only research tests, but also to develop large quantities of prototypes of polymer products and significantly accelerate their introduction into industry, medicine and other industries, which are now in dire need of advanced materials. The head of the KBR was keenly interested in the process of polymer melting, samples of super-structural materials printed on a 3D printer.

«We also have the strongest additive technology center in Russia, because we are the only ones in the country who synthesize materials for 3D printing ourselves and develop and synthesize various types of polymers and composite materials ourselves. We have invented and apply manufacturing technologies for various products using all existing 3D printing methods. In addition, within the framework of this center, we opened a bioprinting laboratory, i.e. we can already print with living cells. It is very important that we managed to create a harmonious combination of world-class equipment, world-class infrastructure with a young viable world-class team. More than 30 young scientists are now working here, the number is expanding every year. We attract students, graduate students to science, and almost 80 percent of them already have academic degrees, which they also received at our university. We have one of the largest dissertation councils in the country, there are only 2 such councils in our country, and one of them is ours. We produce specialists in all areas of polymer chemistry. I hope that in the near future everyone who works in our center will have not only Ph.D., but also doctoral degrees,” — commented the director of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies.

Kazbek Kokov expressed his gratitude to the scientists of KBSU, who are engaged in one of the most progressive areas of science.
