On October 12th Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) celebrated its 94th anniversary. Grand festivities marking the university’s founding day brought together generations of students, faculty, alumni, and distinguished guests, showcasing the traditions and innovative spirit of the republic’s leading university.

Distinguished guests attended the celebratory concert to offer their congratulations to KBSU, including Aliy Musukov, Chairman of the Government of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR); Tatyana Shebzukhova, Rector of the North Caucasus Federal University; and Khauti Sokhrokov, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees and President of the International Circassian Association.

Numerous warm messages and letters of congratulation were received from industry partners and educational institutions across Russia. Greetings were also conveyed by friends and colleagues from the Lugansk State Pedagogical University.

Opening the evening, Aliy Musukov highlighted the university’s immense contribution to the region’s development:

«Kabardino-Balkarian State University is more than just an educational institution. It is a true intellectual hub for the region—a forge for talent where future leaders, scientists, doctors, engineers, and educators are shaped; the very people who are currently driving the development of Kabardino-Balkaria and Russia as a whole.
May every day of study and work be filled with a spirit of creation and inspiration,» the KBR Prime Minister wished the KBSU community.

Tatyana Shebzukhova shared her enthusiastic impressions following her introduction to the university’s faculty and its advanced scientific and educational ecosystem. «You maintain the continuity of academic schools, support young researchers, and help students find their calling; behind every achievement of the university lies the daily labor of a large team, their dedication, and their sense of responsibility for the future of the youth,» noted Tatyana Shebzukhova.
Khauti Sokhrokov emphasized the university’s primary mission—nurturing the intelligentsia and cultivating professionals from the local community:

«The greatest challenge today is raising the younger generation. Preserving the best spiritual and moral qualities and traditions must form the foundation for every young person’s development,» the President of the International Circassian Association (ICA) stressed.
Yuri Altudov, Acting Rector of KBSU, thanked the guests for their kind words, as well as the veteran educators, staff, and students of the university.

«Our greatest pride is our students. And our greatness lies in our multi-ethnic character and in raising worthy citizens of a great Russia,» Yuri Kambulatovich concluded.
By order of Acting Rector Yuri Altudov, staff members were awarded bonuses in recognition of their diligent work and in honor of the university’s founding anniversary. Recognition was also given to the most active students participating in the university’s scientific, social, athletic, and creative life.

The concert program was a celebration of interethnic unity and talent, featuring performances on a single stage by university artistic groups, students, and faculty.

The audience enjoyed the «University Waltz» performed by the KBSU «Callisto» Dance Theater and Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Lana Kulova; moving performances by the children’s choir of the «Peresmeshnik» studio school (featuring a song by university alumnus Alan Gaboev); and the spirited «Islamey» dance performed by the «Kafa» folk ensemble. Professor Vladimir Vissarionov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, performed the song «I Love You, Russia.» Eldar Dymov, an associate professor at the Institute of Law, Economics, and Finance, joined his young student Liza Zarakhova for a heartfelt rendition of «You Are My Russia.» Bazar Khayytov, a student from Turkmenistan, delighted the audience with a performance in his native language, while international students from India presented a vibrant dance.

The evening was further enriched by performances from the «Nasledie» (Heritage) National Culture Club and the KBSU «AmikS» Song Theater, as well as a unique fusion of ethnic and modern styles by Asker Nebezhev and Magomed Chemaev.

In keeping with tradition, the event concluded with the singing of the anthem of the Kh.M. Berbekov Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU).

However, the celebration of KBSU’s 94th anniversary was not limited to a single evening. Earlier in the day, the university grounds transformed into a vast interactive hub. Various institutes, colleges, and the Medical Academy showcased their latest achievements and hosted thematic workshops closely aligned with their respective fields of study. Students and guests had the opportunity to witness firsthand how science, the arts, sports, and education are thriving and evolving within KBSU.

Happy birthday, beloved KBSU! Here’s to new heights, brilliant victories, and boundless inspiration!
