Yuri Temirkanov: I couldn’t avoid this meeting

Today, August 18 the Kabardino-Balkar State University named after H.M. Berbekov held a meeting with the People’s Artist of the USSR, the artistic director and chief conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic Society, the laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation «For Outstanding Contribution to the Development of the National and World Musical Culture», the full Knight of the Order «For Services to the Motherland» Yury Khatuevich Temirkanov.

Before the start of the celebration, the rector of Kabardino-Balkarian State University Yuri Altudov told the honorable guest, who is a member of the University’s Board of Trustees, about the most striking infrastructure and educational changes in the university. Together they visited an exhibition of fine art and arts and crafts of KBSU students.

In the hall named after his father Khatu Sagidovich Temirkanov, Yuri Khatuevich met with representatives of the state and municipal authorities of the republic, leaders and students of KBSU, KBAGU, SKGII, SKAU, leaders of public organizations, cultural figures and representatives of the creative intelligentsia of the KBR.

It was with great pleasure that Yuri Temirkanov held a solemn ceremony of presenting student tickets to the eight best applicants of the 2018-2019 academic year, who collected the highest points in the Unified State Examination in the republic.

Great gratitude and respect to the high guest were expressed by statesmen, representatives of the creative intelligentsia of the republic. Art collectives of KBSU and popular artists of the Kabardino-Balkar stage have dedicated their performances to maestro Temirkanov. The participants of the meeting had an opportunity to ask their genius musician, public figure with world fame their questions and get frank answers from Yuri Khatuevich on them.

«To be honest, I do not like such meetings. There are so many laudatory speeches on them that you do not know where to go. And on the other hand, you can not avoid inviting people whom you respect yourself, and I am very grateful to you for this meeting.
