YURI KOKOV: Those who thought to divide us, united us

September 25 in the Kabardino-Balkar State University named after H.M. Berbekov, as part of a traditional meeting with first-year students and student activists, Yuri Kokov spoke with young people in a dialogue format.

The themes of the development of the system of professional education, the implementation of programs to support young specialists and graduates of higher educational institutions, the training of qualified personnel for the leading sectors of the economy of the republic, the effectiveness of the Unified State Exam have been raised.

Responding to a question about the recent incident in the Elbrus and Baksan districts, the head of the KBR stressed:

«Over the past years, the republic’s authorities, law enforcement agencies, along with civil society institutions, traditional faiths, veteran organizations with active support of the federal center, are taking consistent steps to create conditions for the progressive social and economic development of Kabardino-Balkaria, ensuring public order and the security of citizens. However, not everyone likes the positive changes occurring both in the country and in the republic. There is a group of people who do not care about new schools, modern hospitals, or the well-being of people. It is deeply indifferent to them that social and political stability is the main condition for further progress and progress”.

Events near the village of Kendelen, noted Kokov, developed with information support under the control of the destructive forces of social networks, where with the involvement of psychologists, professional manipulators and provocateurs, there are constant attempts to recruit young people to a radical environment.

Today, Kabardino-Balkaria is one of the most investment-attractive regions of Russia and recognized as one of the safest subjects of the country. But it was not always so. In 2013, 153 crimes of a terrorist nature were committed. According to the level of socio-economic development, the region was at one of the last places, and the collection of taxes in the top three.

«In conditions when criminals dictate the order of life, when people live in an atmosphere of fear and are afraid to leave their homes, to send their children to school, it is impossible to engage in social and economic development. No one will invest in an unstable region. That’s where those who hold such actions beat. We must draw conclusions. The authorities of the republic together with the federal law enforcement and special services, which showed high professionalism and coordination of actions, managed to prevent the escalation of the conflict. It is gratifying that more than 90 percent of the guys who were involved, realizing where they were taken, immediately turned around and left. The same part of our youth, who nevertheless was at the center of these events, now had the opportunity to comprehend what had happened and draw appropriate conclusions in the circle of their families. Passing through so many trials, the people of Kabardino-Balkaria have acquired a reliable immunity to provocations of this kind. But you can not underestimate their danger. It is necessary to thoroughly and comprehensively analyze the causes, bring the perpetrators to the responsibility established by law. First of all — puppeteers, provocateurs and instigators. What has happened is the echoes of the «diseases» that we have had. Those who thought to separate us, united us even more tightly. Vivid evidence of this is the reaction of almost all residents of Kabardino-Balkaria,» — said Kokov.

Expressing the opinion of the student community of the republic, the undergraduate of the first year of training, Timur Aramisov, stated the necessity of resolutely suppressing extremist manifestations, strengthening peace and harmony in the land of Kabardino-Balkaria as an important condition for the further successful development of the republic.

At the meeting, the following figures were made: Over the past five years, more than 600 social facilities were built, repaired and reconstructed: new schools, kindergartens, hospitals, Perinatal and dialysis centers, the Children’s Academy of Childhood «Sunny City» and its branches in the regions of the republic, more than 60 -there are medical and obstetric stations and medical outpatient clinics, 11 cultural houses in villages where they have never been. The park of first aid, transport and road infrastructure has been renewed by 80 percent, cities and settlements, parks and squares are being transformed.

«You know, sometimes they say I’m Kabardian, Balkar, Russian, Jew, Georgian, Armenian, that’s why I’m the greatest, the best. But this is the best thing in life that I managed to do? Just born? But even this, sorry, he did not. Not with words, no cries, no abuse, you need to prove your superiority, and deeds, like Alim Keshokov, Kaisyn Kuliev, Rasul Gamzatov. Yuri Temirkanov is a man of peace, he is a man who does not say what nationality he is. Everyone asks about this, because he is a great musician and a multifaceted and interesting person. That’s how you need to approach the issue of nationality. Interested in representatives of other peoples, so that they recognize you and say- » Listen, who is this talented scientist, and who is this ingenious doctor, and who is this army commander or who is this super successful businessman, or pianist, or conductor, or artist?» And we have everything. This category of people is the one who truly loves their people and really does everything to make his people rise. Not by word, but by example, by your culture, by high erudition, by talent. And it is right. Pride for one’s people should not go through humiliation and insult of others, not through throwing stones at the police. Not through such gestures we have to declare ourselves. And I very much believe that we all understand this. We must preserve the unity of the people of Kabardino-Balkaria, closely intertwined. More than a third of the marriages in the republic are interethnic.

Never and nobody succeeded and, I am sure, will not be able to drive a wedge between our peoples. The guarantee is wisdom and foresight, high civil consciousness and responsibility of our multinational people, who once again demonstrated their best qualities these days. Our main wealth is the centuries-old friendship of the strong spirit of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria, living in an unbreakable union with all the peoples of our great country-Russia!» — Yuri Kokov noted.

Questions were raised regarding the timing of the start of the work of the Tyrnyauz tungsten-molybdenum combine, the implementation of a joint Russian-Chinese project to create a modern industrial cluster in Ethiopia in Kabardino-Balkaria, the transfer of a hydrometeering plant outside Nalchik, and several others.

The results of the entrance examinations, the implementation of the new May Decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin regarding the improvement of the work of higher education, training of personnel for the leading branches of the economy of the republic were told by the rector of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov professor, doctor of technical and economic sciences Yuri Altudov.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the region congratulated the young people with the start of the new academic year, wished successes in mastering the chosen specialty.
