Yuri Khatuevich Temirkanov passed away

We regret to inform you that on November 2, 2023, the People’s Artist of the USSR, laureate of two State Prizes of the USSR, the State Prize of the RSFSR named after M.I. Glinka and two State Prizes of the Russian Federation, holder of the Order of Lenin and full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, artistic director of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich, member of the KBSU Board of Trustees, conductor Yuri Temirkanov.

Yuri Khatuevich was a talented cultural and artistic figure, an excellent master of his craft and a wonderful person. During his life, the maestro received many awards and prizes, performed with leading orchestras and gained worldwide fame. However, he always remained faithful to his small homeland — Kabardino-Balkaria. Special for Yuri Temirkanov were the meetings at our university, when students and teachers gathered in the large hall.

The staff of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Yuri Khatuevich Temirkanov. The memory of a great man will forever remain in our hearts.

Ceremony dedicated to the memory of Yu.Kh. Temirkanov, will take place on November 3 at 14.45 in the concert hall named after H.S. Temirkanov. We invite colleagues and students to take part in this event.
