Berbekov is one of the 100 best universities in Russia according to national and international rating agencies. It is quite obvious that you are ambitious people, you want to achieve a lot, set big goals for yourself. Someone wants to become famous as a scientist, an outstanding specialist in his field. Others aspire to build their own business or devote themselves to teaching. You will be taught by highly qualified teachers, doctors and candidates of sciences, professors, associate professors. The head of the university reminded the young men and women who had just entered the university about two anniversaries in 2022 — 100 years of the statehood of Kabardino-Balkaria and 90 years since the founding of the first higher educational institution of the KBR, that is, our university. Since 1957, when the Pedagogical Institute was transformed into a university, the first rector of KBSU was Khatuta Mutovich Berbekov. Our university bears his name. Kabardino-Balkarian State University became the first university among the republics of the North Caucasus. Our university hosts all-Russian events, meetings with the participation of the heads of federal ministries, the Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Valerievich Kokov. The President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin visited here, he gave a worthy assessment to the university. The profile of the university and the set of specialties is determined by the needs, first of all, of its strategic partners, which are associations, enterprises and educational organizations, world-class scientific and educational centers, as well as enterprises and organizations of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. All areas of activity of the university staff are united within the framework of a single university development program, implemented in correlation with the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The members of the Board of Trustees of KBSU are outstanding figures of science, education, culture, — said Yuri Altudov.
Further, the head of the university focused the attention of the students on how important it is, in addition to professional skills (hard skills), to master over-professional skills (soft skills). It is necessary for a professional career. Yuri Altudov also noted that one of the main criteria for the success of the university is the percentage of employment of its graduates. 85% of KBSU graduates are employed in the first year after graduation. Speaking about the participation of KBSU in the Priority 2030 program, the head pointed out that the university is implementing 5 strategic research projects that are important for the development of the Russian economy. As part of the decade of science and technology in the Russian Federation 2022-2031, KBSU pays great attention to the involvement of students in scientific activities. Scientific and innovative activities are carried out within the framework of cooperation with more than 70 leading world and Russian scientific centers. The university has a Council of Young Scientists, a system of financial support for young scientists who intend to obtain a PhD or PhD degree (incentive amounts from 100,000 to 250,000 rubles, depending on age and degree). Students and postgraduates of KBSU, under the guidance of experienced teachers and researchers, take part in writing applications for grants, in the implementation of research projects and business contracts with wages, and publish articles in scientific journals. If you participate in project activities, put up your scientific and social projects for competitions, such as, for example, Russian competitions UMNIK, «Mashuk» and others, you will be able to receive grants, that is, state financial support for the implementation of these projects, — said acting Rector of KBSU.
Yuri Altudov said that KBSU is one of 9 Russian universities — partners of universities in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics: We cooperate with the Luhansk State Pedagogical University — teachers take refresher courses at KBSU, students do practice. Schoolchildren came from the liberated territories in the summer. Our teachers provide methodological assistance to colleagues, together with students they collect and send textbooks and other books to Lugansk. To motivate freshmen, the head of KBSU gave examples of the success of some university students. These are the winners of various international and national competitions. Our university has many opportunities for personal growth, revealing one’s own talents. Conditions have been created for the creative development of students, interest clubs are operating, and creative teams are successfully operating. The student council is active. Our athletes adequately represent the University at the most prestigious competitions. This work is organized by the Department of Youth Policy, — said Yuri Altudov.
At the end of his speech, Yuri Altudov said: «Each of you also has the opportunity to become a significant scientist, an excellent lecturer, a wonderful teacher, the head of a structural unit of the university, and maybe even a rector in the future. After all, I also began to receive higher education here, within the walls of this university. When the opportunity arose to transfer to the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute through a competition, he was ready for this, passed a very tough selection and after graduating from MEPhI worked in industry, in the government of Kabardino-Balkaria, and federal structures. When he was appointed rector of KBSU, he sought to make the university modern, on the agenda of modern digital trends, and together with a team of like-minded people, we did it. Today you have an interesting task ahead of you — to conquer the heights of higher education, to get a worthy profession, to spend your student years productively and richly. Make this time bright and unforgettable! May scientific, creative and sports victories accompany you».
The director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Information Technologies Albert Shapsigov, the director of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance Elena Mashukova, the head of the trade union organization of KBSU workers Igor Kobozev congratulated the freshmen on the beginning of a new stage in their lives. Then the newly minted students received exhaustive answers to their questions.
