Youth theater groups of KBSU are invited to the Knowledge.Theater competition

Release date: 10.08.2023

The Russian society «Knowledge» is holding a competition for the best production of the play «Difficult Exam». You can register a theater group until September 30, 2023.

School, student and mixed theater groups with participants aged 14 to 35 are invited to participate in the competition. The contestants are invited to put on a performance based on the play by Gulnara Iskalieva «A Difficult Exam», show it to the audience and send a video recording of the show for expert evaluation. Entries will be open until October 15th. Applications will be considered by the expert council of the competition, which will include famous figures of culture and art. From October 16 to October 31, they will make a rating of teams in each region of Russia.

The theater groups that have become laureates of the project will have the opportunity to perform on the professional stage in their region. The winner of the Grand Prix will be the team that takes first place in the rating — they will perform their production at the Moscow theater stage in November 2023.

“Thanks to the competition, the children will be able to become not only spectators, but also direct participants in the educational performance. This will help them to feel the meaning of the play more deeply, as well as to tell about important things to their peers. Knowledge. The theater shows that education can take a variety of forms, and everyone can participate in educational activities. I am sure that soon we will see many interesting productions of the play “Difficult Exam” performed by youth groups from all over the country,” — said Maxim Dreval, Director General of the Russian Knowledge Society.

Having learned about the competition of the Russian society «Knowledge», the student theater of KBSU «Zanaves» immediately responded to the invitation. The guys have already begun to analyze the play, which, for all its apparent simplicity, turned out to be quite deep and complex, however, like all relationships in adolescence.

“It was interesting for us to try our hand at youth student theaters like us, when the same play is staged all over the country. This is a theatrical challenge that I believe we can adequately respond to. The performance is instructive and therefore complex — you can’t slide down to reading from the stage of morality, otherwise it simply “will not enter” the viewer from the target audience. In the center of the storyline is a high school graduate, he must make a difficult choice in life, which is complicated by the boy’s multifaceted intellect and the pressure of his parents. By the way, the main character is played by a talented actor of the school-studio-theater of the KBSU «Mockingbird» — Damir Borsov, he is just a senior and in reality experiences the same difficulties as the hero of the play. All the guys of the troupe were actively involved in the rehearsal process in order to make this struggle of intellects and the meaning of the play bright,” — said Madina Dokshukina, artistic director of the Curtain student theater.

For those youth groups that have not yet managed to apply for the competition, we remind you that you can register your troupe and find a list of supporting documents on the official website of the Knowledge.Theater project. There is also a video recording of the play «Difficult Exam», staged by director Yuri Kvyatkovsky, winner of the «Golden Mask» award. The main roles were played by Mikhail Bashkatov, Mark Eidelstein and Daria Ekamasova.

Methodological materials prepared by the Knowledge Society will help the contestants stage the play at their venues: a video tutorial on creating a play and a methodological guide with detailed information about the stages of staging, the tasks of the director, actor and representatives of backstage professions.

The All-Russian educational project Znanie.Teatr is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation within the framework of the interdepartmental project «Culture for Schoolchildren».
