Week of Science at KBSU: excursions, lectures, master classes, exhibitions

February 7 and 8, 2023 Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov opened the doors of her laboratories and prepared master classes for schoolchildren and students of secondary vocational education organizations as part of the Science Week. Aksana Karasheva, head of the department for pre-university training and career guidance at the university, said that the educational campaign «Day of Science with KBSU» includes excursions, lectures, master classes, and exhibitions. On February 7, the guests of the university visited the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies with a tour, where the guys got acquainted with high-tech equipment and products manufactured in the center.

Schoolchildren learned how the center’s employees synthesize materials for 3D printing, develop and synthesize polymers and composite materials, and with the support of the university administration, they created a bioprinting laboratory (printing with living cells). At the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance, schoolchildren were given a tour of the classrooms and the forensic laboratory, and then they attended a master class “How to start trading on the marketplace”.

On February 8, the Institute of Chemistry and Biology of KBSU organized a master class in geology and geomorphology, as well as a tour of the Genetics and Breeding Center for Collective Use, where a master class was held on the topic «Genetics — the science of the future.» At the Institute of Physics and Mathematics, the guys attended very exciting open lectures: “Quadricular Equations. Past, present and future” and “Modern physics in Kabardino-Balkaria”.

Specialists of the Institute of Informatics, Electronics and Robotics told the guests about education and science in this department of the university. The Institute of Architecture, Construction and Design supplemented the program of events with an exhibition of students’ works. The Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Culture and Sports Education of the KBSU prepared a master class on the popular topic “Psychological protection from stress”.

In the medical college, schoolchildren were shown the process of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, measuring blood pressure and pulse, and conducting intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal injections. At the Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery for potential applicants of KBSU, master classes were held in the digital diagnostics laboratory, as well as in the accreditation and simulation center, where simulators and computer simulators for emergency care, physical examination of the patient, endoscopic surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation are presented, obstetrics, gynecology and traumatology.
