Vaccination in Russian universities and KBSU

Over 50% of students and more than 80% of employees of Russian universities have been vaccinated against coronavirus, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education told Interfax. “As of January 24, 82.49% of university staff and 51.87% of full-time students have been vaccinated,” the ministry said on Wednesday. According to official data, there are over 4 million students in the Russian Federation.

 

Representatives of universities interviewed by the agency said that almost everywhere more than 50% of students were vaccinated against COVID-19. The Ministry of Education and Science also stated that at present, almost 90% of universities use distance or blended learning formats, only 10.6% of educational institutions use exclusively distance learning technologies. The department recalled that, according to the order of November 2, 2021, universities and other subordinate organizations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in each region can make operational decisions on the organization of educational or work processes due to the development of the coronavirus epidemiological situation.

 

At the moment, the period of sessions in Russian universities is ending, somewhere it has already ended, after which students will go on vacation. The new semester starts in February, most universities plan to organize education in a mixed format, but they will be ready to transfer students “to a remote location” if the situation worsens against the backdrop of the spread of the “omicron” COVID-19 strain.
