Russian universities have announced additional admission for 5.8 thousand budget places, it will be completed by August 29, deputy prime minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at an operational meeting in the Russian government.
He noted that during the current admissions campaign, more than 1 million applicants submitted over 2.8 million applications to universities. This is 100 thousand more than last year.
In total, more than 620 thousand budget places are provided for in the new academic year.
The main innovation of the current year was the change in the procedure for admission to targeted training. The total number of places within the admission quota for such training was 145 thousand. To date, 38.8 thousand people have already been enrolled. At the same time, the plan for admission to basic higher education programs has been fully fulfilled.
Earlier it was reported that universities participating in the pilot project to update the higher education system in Russia closed their enrollment for the “budget” ahead of schedule.
